i got off of work and checked the mail, and whaddya know... *the* BIG envelope. i've heard from classmates who applied previously that you either get a big envelope or a regular one... so i saw the big envelope and knew i was in.
:D
finally.
Well, it looks like it's going to be a lot of work right from the beginning. But, I agree on he Christmas break thing. That will be nice to have a couple weeks off in between semesters (even though I'm sure we'll still be studying). I can't wait to find out more information at orientation this week. I'm in the night program, and unfortunately, I haven't seen many posts from other night students, so it's been kind of hard for me to get the feel of what it might be like. Oh well...I guess I'll know soon enough!
I am also surprised that med term. is not a pre-req. But I am also surprised that a forgien language requirement is not included either-- ther has been this "spanish for healthcare" course that I have been trying to take for 3 semesters now... but there is never enough"intrest" in the course for it to stay on.
I am also getting excited about orientation-- even though I complain about stuff-- I am very happy still to have even been accepeted. I am accepted for the day program and I am hoping that some of the courses are offered at south/deerwood! I live near Memorial Hosp. so The north Campus is a trek for me-- as well as for most of the others out there who hae been accepted!
Is anyone just gonna bring their lunch to orientation? Or are you planning to further explore the area?
PS-- thanks to squirtle for giving us some advice.
all the classes for the daytime program are at the north campus. i think you live closer to north campus than i do! i live 5 minutes away from south campus and 10 minutes away from the beach. yikes.
do you think you'd go for memorial for your clinical site? my first choice is st. luke's... *knock on wood*
i don't think there's much to explore as far as north campus... we're practically gonna be in one area, haha. i don't know if i'm gonna bring my own lunch b/c i don't want it getting warm. ew.
Actually, I used to live off of Pritchard RD (( which is DAMN close to N campus.)) So I know the neighborhood pretty well. There is lots of stuff around if you go toward 95, but not much at all if you continue west. I kinda figured the day program was all at N campus, but maybey we'll get lucky. I'm just gonna bring my notebook, my purse, and my lunchbox with cool pack inside-- as there may not be much available in the time given to us to go "out"-- I am not a cafeteria fan, if they let us out at 12, theres no hope for the fast food down the way!
As far as memorial, I dont know if we even get a choice as to where our clinicals are-- I have heard some distance based horror stories-- But if we get a choice, I am trying for Memorial, St. Lukes, or Mayo.
thanks.
right now i'm not so excited as the nursing office did not expedite information in regards to my hep b waiver... blargh...
i got a letter from them dated august 2nd but it is now august 8th... lovely. i know it doesn't take almost 4 days to send mail from a jax location to another jax location!!!
orientation is tomorrow, woohoo. i am gonna drink some vitamin water with taurine and hope to stay awake.
If I could go back to the days before school started I would have begun work on my pharm class though
Me too!! Some advice with pharm.... Don't wait until a week before the test to start studying, which is what I think a lot of us did. Its hard not to do, because the first test is like 6 weeks into the semester and you have so much other stuff going on in between. But seriously, 20 chapters of pharm is way too much to learn in a week!!
Good luck everybody!!
did it say what the lowest points admitted for the rn program were??! i am still waiting to hear back.. how many points did you have?thanks for the help
hey!!
i didnt made it this fall.
i had 181.23.
the letter said the cut off was around 183.52 (not sure with the decimal)
i retook the nat and i got 186.44
i pray that ill make it this spring.
congrats guys!!

For the most part, your Assessment book will include a review of the anatomy related material you need for each section. Personally, I would work on the medical terminology if you haven't taken the course. There are so many times that has come in handy for me at eliminating incorrect answers on a test, etc. You are only tested on the first few chapters, but it is beneficial to read beyond that in my opinion.
