i got off of work and checked the mail, and whaddya know... *the* BIG envelope. i've heard from classmates who applied previously that you either get a big envelope or a regular one... so i saw the big envelope and knew i was in.
:D
finally.
WOW I keep hearing about all these bad responses that people keep getting from the office. I've yet to have any bad experiences with the department. So far they have been very helpful and accommodating to me. I just called the office and they said that there was an error on Meridy's website because they had just made some changes. So I then called Meridy's, they were aware of the issue and stated that for the RN students it's supposed to be first name and last initial. Apparently, for LPN and other's the case may be different so it would be best to call Meridy's if you need this info for a different program. I hope this helps and good luck everyone.
anyone get their titers back? i just got mine today and they're all positive except for...
hepatitis b! i'm in the "indeterminate" range which deemed me "negative".. i'm freaking out. i'm gonna go ahead and sign that form electing out of hep b immunizations, but will get them done anyway... maybe all i need is a booster?
I had mine-- I didnt really look at the sheet that had the results ( I should have though). But now that FCCJ has it, its on them to let me know of any issues with it... according to the nurses at Northside Medical, aparently all of mine were "perfect"... Maybey boosters would be a good option. FCCJ/clinicals will probably make us get boosters for everything later on.
Don't freak out about your Hep B titer. I ran into the same problem today and the clinic said to double check with FCCJ reguarding this issue and how we should handle it. So I went directly to their office to ask in person and I got lucky... the person who handles checking our immuno papers was there to answer the question. She said, not to worry, just to sign the Hep B Declination Form and turn it in. Then explained that a lot of times the booster is just not enough to give you positive immunity, so she recommended that in the future to get the series of 3 all over again and titer after. She also said that it wouldn't be a problem because we won't be exposed to patient's immediately and that it wouldn't affect our acceptance into the program. It would only prevent us from getting hired as a nurse (later). ONE MORE THING: It is VERY IMPORTANT to sign that Hep B Declination Form and make sure to turn in EVERYTHING else that is required on AUG 1. Oh- if and when we do complete the series and positive titer, just update your file at the office. I hope this helps and good luck.
So....now I'm confused. I didn't sign the Hep B waiver, and didn't have a titer for Hep B done, but I did get my first injection of the vaccine. I have to go back for my 2nd on the 19th of this month. I sure hope that's good enough for them!!!! What do you all think?
And.....what all is everyone bringing to orientation, and (I guess this next question is kind of stupid....) but what are you wearing? Business casual, jeans, dress???? I don't want to look like a slob, but I don't want to be overdressed and have everyone looking at me like I'm an idiot! :)

i called the school and they weren't much help
whoever answered my call was just lazy or something. i asked them about what names should be on the pins, and i told them i was in the RN program, yet they proceeded to ask me if i was a student or faculty, then they asked me if i was in the LPN or RN program. and THEN they said, "hold on..."
they forwarded me to the director of nursing, i think, and all i got was an answering machine.
why is it so hard to get an answer for something so simple? i can't order my uniforms until this is cleared. idon't want to order the wrong name formatting on my pins.
