I enrolled in January, took 2 months to complete exams, was CPNE eligible in April, finished CPNE August 3rd. You're at an advantage starting an ADN program with your LPN training still fresh in your mind. That's how I did it. I didn't have to learn a lot of new material but look at nursing in a different perspective. It's a very doable program if you put your mind to it, I worked 60 hours a week with 2 kids and still managed to keep a 3.0 gpa.
Good luck to you with the remainder of your program!
Just an FYI.....
I requested an FCCA timeline from my advisor and this was part of her reply:
The FCCA has undergone additional unforeseen delays and therefore, the anticipated time for release of the FCCA has been pushed back further. At this point, the administration is not presenting us with an alternative time line for release.
However, if a student completes all general education requirements and the CPNE before the FCCA is available, there may be an alternative option made available to those students who qualify. To be considered for this alternative option, again, you still will need to complete the CPNE.
If the FCCA is available before you take the CPNE, which will be about 7-9 months from the point you submit a completed application, you will complete the FCCA via the computerized version when it does become available.
What the heck is the FCCA? Another hoop to jump through?
Yep!
The sad thing is they changed the curriculum Oct 07 and said all the new people had to complete this three part test before they could take the CPNE. Well it is Aug 08 and they are not even close to completing one. How on earth do you initiate something before it is even complete. Myself along with others in the new curriculum are finished with the CPNE or waiting on a CPNE date and the test are not ready. The last I heard, was they may have 1 of 3 test ready by Nov. I want my CPNE date ASAP because it sounds like its gonna be a bit messy or unorganized.
I called Excelsior the other day and asked if the FCCA could be waived for me (passed CPNE last wk) since I chose this program b/c of the ability to work at my own pace. I told her I'm VERY motivated to get it done, and she agreed she didn't know of anyone who's got thru it that quick. I told her I didn't think it fair to make me wait til November. Well she asked me to finish my gen ed requirements and call back since the Dean is on vacation for 2 wks; she would have to present it to her. So I'll have all my ducks in a row when I call her back-I signed up for that dang info literacy and will clep my last humanities in 10 days. They've had more than enough time to perfect the FCCA since they've begun the new curriculum and if I'm made to wait for it I will be so #$%#!!
Would you please let us know what is said or done? Thank you!!
