when I first started ER nursing, I had a Mosbys guide to emergency nursing. Now I use a pocket size Critical Care Nursing guide that I buy at the local Fire Expo. I cant remember the name of it but my husband has one for pre-hospital too. It has everything you ever need inside of it.
I found the link, the book is called "Critical Care Nursing Field Guide"

I like the Lippincott's pocket manual of nursing practice as a Med-Surg nurse. But it's not really "pocket-size"

I used to carry the Tarascon Pocket books (pharmacopeia, pediatric emergency, adult emergency, ortho). All fit nicely in my scrub pockets and were a wealth of information and easy to use (very important). You can get at http://www.tarascon.com .
Now though, I carry a Palm device and can carry so much more information with me to the bedside as well as all my personal information management (PIM) (calendar, addresses/phone #, to-do's).
It is like carrying over 100# of books in my front scrub shirt pocket!

IF you have a PDA......MEDcalc is a great free proggie floating around out there. Also a couple of free drip calculators out there too.

Web site says they are working on it but no success yet.

Ah yes, the brain, prone to error, leaks like a seive at about age 40-50 years and resists new information in favor of old. That is why my Palm device "ectopic brain" (not my coin, darn it) is so nice to have on hand (or in pocket).
