Favorite cargo pants/scrub tops/carrier??

Published

hi there!

i'm a new rn, orienting to an oncology floor. i've been reading the "what's in your pockets?" thread and found many good tips as well a few laughs. now i'm wondering what type of scrubs or gear do you find works best on your floor.

after nursing school i hoped to wear some of those cute fitted outfits. but i find i never really wear the one i bought, instead i reach for the cargo pants and a baggier top with large hem pokets to carry stuff with me. i like the cargo pants because i can carry stuff and still sit, crouch, kneel etc without stabbing myself in the belly button!

my fav pair has 4 cargo pockets on the legs. it has one large pocket on the left that i keep my pda (in a silicone skin) and stethoscope. one the right i have a three in one pocket. my sticky notes and alchohol swabs are in the cellphone pocket, scissors in the scissors pocket and a carpujet and saline flushes in the large pocket. i wish they came with the sewn in tape for clipping things to. i have a pocket organizer that i clip in some of my tops, but i'd rather have it on my leg.

for those of you who wear cargo pants or use other pocketed gear... what do you like best and why??

tia,

newbie rn

I LOVE SmartScrubs cargos...they're all I wear now. Yeah they're pricey, but they are so soft and comfortable, long-lasting and they come in tall sizes (I'm only 5'6", but a lot of the other cargos only come to my ankles). You can even wear them to the store and stuff without feeling like you just came from work. Lots of colors, too. Try them, you'll love them

See, this is where it's all in your build. No way can I wear unisex anything. My hips are very wide and my waist quite small, and the amount of fabric cinched into a drawstring waist on me is just ridiculous.

just ordered my first set of cargo pants and matching top from SMART S.C.R.U.B.S.

Wasn't sure if they ran big or not, however... so I went ahead and ordered both small and medium sizes in pants, since they claim "easy return" policy, even including a return envelop.

Thanks for the info. 'Had never seen these before. I ordered 2 sets and they shipped the next day. 'looking forward to their arrival. thanks again!

These have become my favorite pair of scrubs. They are so comfortable, the pockets are roomy and reinforced by being part of the seams. The tricot lining makes retreiving stuff easy when I'm going by feel to grab what I need with one hand in the dark with a flailing pt.

I really like wearing OR scrubs. Where exactly can I purchase these?

No one has responded to this but I also prefer OR scrubs....does anyone know where to order?

I like Cherokee Workwear cargo pants. These guys have them at $10. There's no place cheaper.

These are my favorite scrub pants. I know the above post is old, but thanks so much!

I prefer OR scrubs too...since they are the only ones I can wear. I believe Medline makes the ones I like. The last batch we received had a lower rise, which I really like since I've got a short torso. I am the only one that will wear them though. I don't like a low hanging crotch on my pants...so these low rise (which aren't really that low rise) are great for my needs.

You can also check with central supply...our's can order scrubs for us...just about any brand.

Regarding the Medelita scrubs......

How do they fit? do they run large, roomy.... or small? I find the Dickies brand to be on the small size and the Cherokee brand on the roomy size. Landau seem to run "true to size" in my opinion. I tend to buy "Medium" tops and bottoms in Dickies, but small bottoms in Cherokees. Sometimes I go ahead and get mediums in tops for Landaus, just to allow room in the hip area b/c when I load the pockets of scrub tops, they pull around my hips, otherwise "small" tops and bottoms work in Landau.

Can you give me an idea of how the Medelita scrubs would compare in sizing?

Also.... do they run okay with length? I'm about 5'6 1/2".

Thanks for sharing your recommendation.

I'd have to say Landau :) I only buy cargo pants.. i GOTS to have my pockets.

My friends and I always order from http://www.commonscrubs.com

only $15/set

never fades, even after soooo many washes (nearing a year)

the waistline is amazing, half garter in the back and drawstring in the front

they run a little big, so I stick with the XS, I'm 5'3 about 125lb.

only $15/set!!! i can't get over that...

oh! and they seem to ship super fast.

I love, love Urbane scrubs. I get the cargo pants. The pants seem to run big, so be careful if you order online. The tops seem to run true-to-size or even a little smaller, so again, check your measurements. I get compliments on them a lot because they are so professional, yet trendy looking. I love these scrubs though and haven't been able to completely wear out a pair yet. Of course that may be because I have so many ;) :p

Oh wow! Which set do you usually get? The "regular scrubs"? Have you tried any other? I'm 5'3 too, how do you find the length to be?

I've got a bunch of the regular scrub sets (#101) and I also have a couple of the 2 pocket tie scrubs, those pants are flared a little on the bottom but cost a little more ($21.64 w/tax). both style pants are surprisingly good on length, but then again I wear Nike Air Max's or Nike Shox with them! I think you should be fine on length with these. Good luck, hope this helps some.
