FAU Traditional BSN Program Fall (August) 2015

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hey there! :) Fall 2015 applications have started for Florida Atlantic University's Traditional BSN Program. I didn't see another thread talking about it so I decided to bring it up. If there is another thread, please link me to it!

To anyone applying to the same term: Have you taken the TEAS exam? I was going to pick up my review book today at B&N. I expect to probably take it twice and hopefully before next year! Where did you guys take the TEAS and how did you do?

I heard the deadline for applications is January 9, 2015. Their website hasn't updated yet from last term.

This is also my first time working with the NursingCAS and I'm still working on my application.

This might be late but about the Z-number, the program did not input an option for it in this application so no worries!

Hi everyone!

Wow i'm sorry, I stopped getting updates on my email about posts to this thread. I didn't know and I missed out on this haha. I hope you guys figured it out and were able to submit your applications because the deadline was 2/16. I should have checked in on this thread sooner but i was waiting for an update email.

I thought of applying to FIU but I read on their brochure that if you had to retake a science more than once then you're not considered to be an applicant. I may have read that wrong or they may have changed that rule. I also thought about applying for UCF but I haven't gotten a chance to even apply to transfer there.

I really should have retaken the TEAS because I did so bad. It really discouraged me but I'm just going to wait until I get my final answer.

Has anyone received interview invite emails/phone calls from FAU? I understand that on the program's site, interviews are on March 13, 2015 and orientation is on April 17, 2015. I'm not sure if all of the interviews will be on March 13th. I'm reading the thread of FAU's program from 2014 and I'm getting super anxious lol. People from last year started receiving interview invites in mid-feb and I understand the dates are different this year.

I'm so anxious too!! The deadline was feb 16 so I'm sure we won't hear back for another few weeks.. I'm hoping its sooner!

I haven't heard of anyone getting e-mails for interviews yet. It does say that the date is tentative, and I think the interviews are unlikely to happen on that date since the due dates were extended.

I'm pretty nervous too. Goodluck to everyone!

Yeah, I'm sure it will all be delayed. What's everyones stats? if you don't mind sharing :)

3.98 GPA and 95th national percentile (since apparently that is what they're looking at and not the individual score?) on the TEAS.

Yes I agree that the interviews won't fall on that date since they kept pushing dates. I got a little anxious since I also applied to Nova and on my Nova thread, people slowly started getting interview invites so I just wanted to make sure that I didn't get left behind or something for FAU lol. I know all schools work different with their dates but yeah I was just curious.

I'm not gonna lie, my TEAS score is terrible. I felt embarrassed to share it since I've also went on previous threads where people were sharing their score and everyone has 90s and up. My readiness level is "Proficient" but I don't recall my actual score or percentile at the moment. I tried to flush it out of my memory after I submitted everything to NursingCAS. My TEAS score is probably my downfall (That's why i'm nervous to take the Kaplan at Nova. I heard it's easier but I get so worked up over these types of tests. I just need to prepare myself better than I did for the TEAS.) My GPA is I believe at a 3.50 so I'm not sure how much of a chance I have but I already submitted everything so I hope they get a chance to look at it!

I'm considering applying to Broward College too but I haven't taken the HESI yet.

Don't worry, I am in the same boat as you lol. My TEAS sore is not good either... I am not a good standardized test taker at all! I have a 4.0 pre req GPA and I think a 3.9 something overall GPA. I just hope my TEAS score doesn't bring me down. Besides FAU, I applied to FSU and going to apply to FIU and maybe UNF. I don't want to apply to Broward College because I want my BSN as soon as possible, not an associates in nursing. But if I don't get into a university I will have to consider that route.

Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone ashtay06 lol! Your GPA is really good though so I think they might give you a shot (: They pushed the TEAS date back and I had a chance to retake it but I was notified too late since I was going out of town that week and I just left my score as it is. Plus, they only take the most recent score so if I did worse the 2nd time (it's happened on my SATs lol...) then I don't want to risk it.

I have a friend who is in the program at FSU right now. She loves it and I always see her updates and she looks like she enjoys herself there. I thought of applying to UNF too and possibly UCF but applying as a transfer THEN applying as a nursing applicant is a process (I sound super lazy, I know lol). I'm going to look at deadlines and see if its not too late because I need to push it and have more options.

And yes, I agree with you 100% about Broward. I thought it would be a good idea so I can work sooner and then go back to school for my BSN while the hospital I'm working at possibly gives me money for school but I don't really feel like having another Associates Degree and I also just want to get my BSN right away. I don't mind going to Broward but if that were the case then I should've just gone for my AS rather than my AA.

Yeah I didn't want to risk lowering my TEAS score either and I really didn't have the time to study for it with all the classes I am taking this semester. So it is what it is! I think you still have time to apply to UNF, but not sure about UCF.

I mean it's not like it's a terrible option to get the associate's but it will just take longer, and I have read that most hospitals are only hiring nurses with BSN's. But that's good that you are already working at a hospital! Either way, whatever route we end up taking, will work out for the best. We will eventually get to where we want to be!

It's good you were able to work it out and still take the TEAS while having a hectic semester! It's sad for me because I graduated in December so I took the TEAS right after I finished my classes. I mean I guess you can say it was still hectic because I was finishing last minute things for class and I was also working and I also had less than 2 weeks to prepare but still I should've pushed myself to study more lol. I'm assuming you're finishing the rest of your pre-reqs this semester?

Oh and I was just hypothetically speaking that if I worked as an RN and went back to school then I would hope the hospital I work at would help me pay for school lol. I still work in retail. I used to volunteer at Memorial during high school though. I wish I took more advantage of it.

Yes you're totally right (: Life has a way of putting you through sticky situations but you eventually end up where you need to be. I'll definitely look into UNF then since it may not be too late lol.

Thank you!
