FAU 2016 ABSN Applicants

Published

Applications are open for the accelerated track! The deadline is in less than a month.

I am currently working on my application. I created this thread to reach out to other applicants and potential future classmates. We could provide support and feedback to one another while we apply/wait for acceptance letters.

I have 4.0 GPA in the science courses. Other pre-reqs -- A's except for 2 B's and 1 B+

I took the TEAS twice. I ran out of time the first time and did not get the grade I expected. I was devastated. The second time I took it, I did well and scored in the 99th percentile.

What is your current situation? I confess I am pretty nervous.

Do you know if we have to include references in NursingCas??

Best of luck to all applicants!

Hi :) Here is the admission criteria off their website. Looks like they look at "Individual Adjusted TEAS Score."

Admission Decision Criteria

This is a limited-access program and we receive many more qualified applications than available spaces. Admission decisions are based on the following:

1. Cumulative undergraduate GPA.

2. Pre-requisite science GPA

3. Other nursing common pre-requisites GPA.

4. An individual adjusted TEAS score.

5. Personal interview

Hi there,

Each item (1-5) has a corresponding multiplier. For example, if I remember correctly, the interview (5) has a "0.5 multiplïer".

They will take into account your bachelor's GPA (must be 3.0 or higher)..The higher the GPA, the better.. I guess your major may also play a role when they look at your GPA.

I cannot wait to hear back from FAU!!:bookworm:

Hello, all!

So, I had to resubmit my application because I manually entered my college (because I couldn't find it from the list, but it was there apparently...I typed in Miami Dade College, but I was supposed to type in Dade first....???anyways) and entered it twice, because I attended the school directly after highschool and received my degree and then again after I received my bachelors to complete nursing pre-reqs. They told me to correct it and I did. I also received notification that they received my transcript but couldn't process it because of the mistake, but that they would once I corrected it.

So I've done all that today and it had to be completed by Monday. I didn't receive a notification because for some reason my fau email stopped forwarding emails to me -_-.

Needless to say, the ENTIRE process with NursingCas has been nothing but a headache, and I really wish FAU would just go back to regular applications.

Question, if you know the answer: Once you submit an application or re-submit to FAU, how soon do they receive it or have access to it from NursingCas?

Hey Guys !

I recalled someone asking about a guesstimate of when to expect any updates about interviews from FAU. Well based on last semester forum the itinerary is below:

around late september: Students' receive email confirmation about packet being received and that further updates will be given October 4.

October 5 -7 : Email received about interviews (BTW, it will be a group interview).

October 21 : Email received about interview times

October 24 : Interviews commence !

November 7: Admission decision rolls in !

Hopes this helps ! Remember this is tentative and is based solely on last semester outline.

FYI: Set up FAU's email to come straight to your phone

yelp, just seen this email from FAU :)

Thank you for your interest in Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. The Admission, Progression and Retention Sub-Committee will begin reviewing applications for the Accelerated Track in nursing the week of September 21, 2015. Hi @mandyrodriguez ,

NursingCas will eventually verify the info you submitted..However, I believe that once you submit your app, FAU has access to it.

You can always call/email FAU's nursing dept. to double check!

Thank you! So I called them as soon as they opened today, and they told me that once you submit it, the school can access your application. He then said something about the verification of my application , and that made me question my application being seen again-_- I'm just gonna not worry anymore. I've done all I can. I'm sure everything is going to work out.

Hi there! Question, did everyone receive this email, or was this a reply for an email you sent eariler? Thanks!

I think we all received that same email because I haven't emailed them about anything that hasn't already been answered. I think that they know we are all anxious and worried due to issues with the CAS portal, so they are just trying to give us an estimated timeline.

I think they should just accept everyone on this blog and call it a day already ;)

uhoh. I didn't receive that email. Could you tell me when you received it? Maybe I applied after that date. I want to make sure I'm getting emails directed to applicants. I wonder who I should speak to. I guess i'll call the school. Has anyone else not received this email?

Hi,

I received the following email on Friday 9/18 @9:56am :

Thank you for your interest in Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. The Admission, Progression and Retention Sub-Committee will begin reviewing applications for the Accelerated Track in nursing the week of September 21, 2015. By the week of October 12, 2015, the Sub-Committee will notify students via their FAU email regarding selection for an onsite interview at the Florida Atlanta University campus in Boca Raton, Florida. Bottom line is that they have access to your application..I think it's a great idea to call them :)
