I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.
I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.
It is crazy. I just got off the phone with broward...and the lady told me yes..THEY made an error! I asked if they would type up something stating that and send it to fau along with the transcripts and they said I have to speak to a supervisor. Hopefully they call me back. She resent them today but they still said they will not fax them.
Hi. This is Dr. D. I just wanted to chime in and hopefully help reduce your stress a bit. You may know that I am no longer the Assistant Dean and with that change there are some changes in the review of applications. Dr. France's (the Interim Assistant Dean) plans to notify applicants of their invitation to interview by February 14th. So, no need to be looking for your invitations yet.
Breathe.
Also, my advice regarding transcripts and all: Those are issues out of your control. It is kind of like being on an airplane in turbulence. There is nothing you can do about it. So, we can't hold it against you. Actually the delay in informing students on invitation to interview can work in your favor. It gives time for everything to catch up. So, trust in the system.
I won't stick my nose in here much. I just wanted to help when I can. My most important message: Believe in yourselves. You have worked hard to get to this point.
All the best, Dr. D.
Oh Thank God. I've been so worried because I am getting the run around with BC. I am so disappointed on how they are handling this. They did admit error at least for my request but that doesn't solve my problem. Nursing CAS still doesnt show the transcripts and another was mailed to them last week. They may have it but I am thinking they are inundated with transcripts and seeing as they have been closed so many days for snow, they probably cant catch up. This is not a good time of year for applications. In the meantime, I am getting all my medical records for vaccines taken care of and registering for my BLS course. I have a lot going on with my family these few months before school starts. Trying to get everything in order. Today I enjoyed a wonderful massage! I feel so much better now!
Wow nursing cas just updated my transcript today, smh which really sucks , they are like 500 days late, considering I been sent my transcript to them in Dec, which is so unfair....well all I could do is hope now and stay positive :)....and HELLO everyone, hope to see you all in May....(being hopeful lol)
Kumi, I wouldn't worry too much. As Dr. D stated above, these things aren't within your control and therefore will not be held against you. You have done all you can, and now all you can do is wait for the next 2.5 weeks or so until interview invites go out.
Best of luck, and welcome to our little circle of hopeful applicants! :)

It really upsets me that the lady at Broward pretty much was yelling at me. I can't believe how unprofessional they acted. FAU is my only choice....I've worked so hard at maintaining straight As and to lose that for something I can't control seems hard to swallow. I requested them the day the class finished. I'm going to try and go to Broward today. Even if they didn't mail it until the 8th that is still a long time.
