I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.
I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.
I'm guessing they didn't want to give a set date since this is the first year they are doing interviews. As I said earlier, I think the earliest we can expect to hear back is next week. There are a lot of applications to sort through between both the traditional and accelerated programs.
Thank you Quendi for your responses. The tuition is around $750 per credit (but I need only the first semester as out of state) which is pretty significant for low budget students like me :) I thought that the courses were starting in October to find out that they start in May. Also, the admission office messed up my application (they enrolled me for a different program after 2 consecutive mistakes), so my hopes are becoming lighter and lighter. Good luck to you guys and enjoy the journey!
Are you talking about undergraduate admissions? I have had problems with them in the past. There was also a mix up with my transcripts at FAU as well. Lol. Sometimes that red tape really takes it's toll.
I don't blame you, that is super expensive. Classes begin in May, so that's a huge move up in timeline if you weren't prepared for it. I don't blame you for not making it a top choice. Best of luck for wherever else you are applying!

I assume you want a specific email for FAU? The link above is for the faculty listing in Nursing.
Mchel that is awful! I sometimes wonder what these people who work in registrar think. They must realize there are deadlines to be met, and that failure to deliver transcripts in a timely manner can be extremely detrimental to applicants. Especially when the program is on a yearly cycle!
It is very disheartening. Every time I call nursing cas they are closed for weather as well. I know it isnt their fault but it sure stinks.
I requested the transcripts to be sent when grades posted and the lady today told me that even though I did that online it can only really be done in person. I can't believe how a college can offer a service online but in actuality cannot fulfill the request. I am so upset because I have been so careful in handling my timelines and deadlines. Well...I emailed FAU so hopefully it will work out. They had my main transcripts already calculated minus these 2 classes and FAU has my complete transcripts now.
I'm am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I know programs can be sticklers about these things, but I'm hoping they make exceptions when things like this are clearly not your fault. I still can't believe that nonsense. The same thing could have happened to me too since the transcript office at FAU messed up my request back in December.
Mchel210 I had the same problem with broward not sending my transcripts on time. I called FAU and the advisor told me that the board hasn't decided what to do with students with late transcripts yet. I didn't call after deadline because my transcripts ended up getting there on time thanks to god.
