FAU 2014 ABSN applicants

I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.

I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.

Hello I am also applying for the absn I sent my application a long time ago and havnt recieved anything from fau, has anyone recieved an email to confirm that Fau recieved your application?

I don't believe they send confirmations. As long as everything looks good on NursingCAS, you should be in the clear.

Hi guys,

I wonder when the school starts and what would be the cost of the tuition for out-of-state students. Does anyone have this info? I do not think I meet the admission criteria :( as I have scored very poorly on my TEAS, but I still have hope, who knows, maybe not only geniuses apply for the ABSN :) and maybe the GPA is as important as TEAS.

Hi Daniela! The semester starts in May along with the rest of FAU. As for out-of-state tuition, you can find that information on the FAU website. I know it isn't cheap, but FAU is a great program so it may be worth it. :)

I feel you there! Lol. I figure it should take them at least a couple of weeks to make their choices for interviews. I keep stalking this thread waiting for the first post confirming an interview invite. :)

Hi all! Just wanted to hop on and say I'm playing the waiting game too. Funny how I submitted in mid November and was fairly patient up until the 15th of this month! Now I'm just so excited/nervous it's almost time to find out if my hard work has paid off!

I've been way crazy about this whole process since last summer. Lol. I submitted October 1st at 7am (kind of ridiculous) and have been trying to distract myself ever since. Now that the applications are officially closed though, I check my email repeatedly and my phone is always nearby. XD

I'm really glad to see so many new people joining us! I'm wishing everyone all the best, and let's hope we all meet for interviews and orientation!
