Fast and dirty

Every two weeks a nurse has to check the crash cart and make sure everything is there,is there a fast and dirty way to do this?

Once a month a nurse has to check the expiration dates on everything in the crash cart,is there a fast and dirty way to do this?

Thank you,

I guess I've just never heard the term "fast & dirty."

(well..... never mind)

make a chart and use that to check the presence of items...

as far as dates, we always usta write them in marker on the side that would be facing up..easy to check quickly....

This thread isn't what I thought it was going to be about at all.

Dammit. :o

LOL Stargazer, my thoughts exactly!:p

Is your cart locked and you still have to do this check? Where I am the cart has one of those break-tab locks so you can see that it's "sealed"; when it's opened it's broken and you have to get a new one. Materials management stocks and locks the cart. We have to daily checks (defibrillator charged and tested, suction working, cart locked, etc) but as long as the cart is locked we don't have to go through it. Expiration dates for pharmacy and supplies are on a sheet on the top with the earliest expiration dates, so as long as today's date is before the earliest expiration and the cart's locked, you're good to go!

EVERY 2 WEEKS!!!!

Sorry, got carried away. But isn't it more like q12 or 24 hrs?

2 weeks is an awfully long time between checks.

Pharmacy checks the inside, we check the rest. If the lock is on, then pharmacy has checked the meds and supplies.

We keep a log of checks.

This thread was neither fast nor dirty!

Check cart every shift...Ours gets cracked/and used at least once every shift. Once its opened....back to Pharmacy it goes they have to refill and update each drawer... We must test the defib..and cart lock and O2 every shift..and document...and it best be cleaned IF DIRTY!!!!

Thanks for those who supplied suggestions to my question.

For those who read "fast and dirty" and were disappointed after reading the contents of my thread, well, all I can say is I dont know what you were thinking
