False positive drug test for Benzos

Published

I had a positive result for Benzodiazepine. I know for a fact I don't take that or any medications. I don't even like taking medicine. I told the employee health nurse that had to be wrong. She said she will send it to the lab so they can test it.

The only thing I had taken was Formula 303 Pain Relieve Natural Muscle Relaxant, which is over the counter that the chiropractor gave me when I was in a car wreck. I informed her that's all I had and it was only one tablet and the first time I've even taken it, which is a natural relaxant.

She said she never heard of that causing a false positive. Well, I researched it and I've seen that people had false positives from it. I wasn't worried anyway because I know for a fact I don't take prescription medication.

Update from today: I got the call from the employee health nurse that my drug screen was negative. I told her I knew it was negative and that natural relaxant was the one thing I had, which I now threw away. So if anyone ever takes that OTC Natural Muscle Relaxant, just know that in fact, it will cause a false positive drug test. I'm a witness to it.

If you read the internet, it will tell you Tylenol will cause a false positive drug screen.

There is no such thing as a “natural” muscle relaxant. I’d stop seeing your chiropractor and his “fake” medicine.

One should know active ingredients in OTC medications, herbal supplements along with herbal teas. Per the manufacturer:

Natural Relaxant FORMULA 303 ® Natural Relief For Muscle Spasm, Tension and Stress

Each Tablet Contains: 6 parts Valerian Root (Quad-Strength) 1X, 3 parts Passiflora (Quad-Strength) 1X, 1 part Magnesium Carbonate 1X.

Valerian root has been reported to cause false positives in drug tests for benzodiazepines. Other herbal supplements such as Kava Kava and St Johns Wort can also affect body chemistry therefore false positives may be produced.

I know all of that now. I didn't think to look all that up before I was going to take a drug test being that it was my first time taking it. I had it a year and never taken it, but took one tablet last week. I told the employee health nurse all of that and she still said she never heard of it causing a false positive drug screen.

Trust me I know now. Don't have to worry about that no more.

That was a year ago. I haven't seen him since. I only took that tablet once and threw it away after that. I just wanted to inform people. I start my new job next Tuesday.

P.S you also can't believe everything you read on the internet....

And I didn't say anything about Tylenol!

Respectfully, you are quite misinformed. Valerian root and passiflora, or the passion flower, are plants that have been used for eons as muscle relaxers/pain relievers. Chamomile is another one.

It isn't "fake" medicine to use natural sources rather than pharmaceuticals. I've been happily using them for years, and I don't need anything else.

Sure, but that particular formula is homeopathic so it doesn't contain any valerian root at all.

Matters not, you still lied.

I lied? I think you meant to reply to another poster?

Yes, it does. I read the ingredients and the main one was Valerian root. Each Tablet Contains: 6 parts Valerian Root (Quad-Strength) 1X, 3 parts Passiflora (Quad-Strength) 1X, 1 part Magnesium Carbonate 1X.

I took a picture of the bottle and ingredients before I threw it out.

Not misinformed at all. If you look up false positives on the internet, people will “claim” any medication will cause such and such to make them positive.

Chiropractors are fake medicine. Sorry, but they are quacks. And more power to you if you think herbs are healing you. Enjoy your placebo affect.
