Anyone applying to WesternU's MSN-E program? If so, do you know when they will start the interview process? What they look for in their applicants (gpa, extracurricular, etc)?
Current students--What were your stats like?
Any information would be helpful =)
Thanks in advance!
Ilnurse- the letters do not tell you your ranking. At Western there is no ranking. They choose alterrnates at random. I was an alternate last year and they told me they usually see movement in the months of April - May. Good luck to those that got on the alternate list! I will be sending in my deny acceptance form this coming week. So a spot will be opening up!
Ilnurse - I spoke at length with admissions yesterday. There is "absolutely" a ranking with the alternates. As a spot opens they go down the list and fill according to placement. I was also told there are as many alternates as seats in the class. So, if 60 were accepted then there are 60 alternates. And they will not divulge where you rank. Hope this helps and I hope we're all in the top 10.
I think it's odd that they don't tell you where you are on the list. I've never heard of a school holding that information. The other schools that I applied to and were put on the waiting list told me where I was. I'm sure they have reasons for everything they do.
Thanks for the information. Still no mail. But I am halfway across the country!
Hey you guys! I got a letter today in the mail that places me on the alternate list. The letter was postmarked 3 days ago and I live in Northern California, so im sure a letter is coming your way ilnurse15!
So i guess this is more waiting until they fulfill all 60 spots! ahhhhhhhhhhh!! i hope we all hear soon and not have to wait til august!
If we decide to remain on the alternate list, are we obligated to be in the program if contacted? I ask this because it could be as late as August before we are notified whether or not we are in the program, and there is a possibility I may already be starting another program (although Western was my 1st choice). Those who were accepted had the opportunity of declining, and I was wondering if we were later accepted if alternates could decline as well. There is so much things to think about (living situation, tuition, financial aid, etc.). I really wish we knew how we ranked in the alternate list.
Irutanaj: Have you found that to be the case with other schools? I'm not sure that i've heard of you having to commit to a school just because you choose to be on their waiting list. Maybe you should call them and ask?
Anyone that has gotten a letter, have you logged into the website that you sent your secondary application to and checked your status online? Has it been changed to reflect your current status? I still haven't gotten a letter yet, I might wait until Wednesday before calling admissions panicked!
