Anyone applying to WesternU's MSN-E program? If so, do you know when they will start the interview process? What they look for in their applicants (gpa, extracurricular, etc)?
Current students--What were your stats like?
Any information would be helpful =)
Thanks in advance!
I applied to Western U last year for fall 2010; however, I was not accepted (my bachelors was still in progress when I applied and was completed in June 2010 before the start date of the program). I was called for an interview right before they left for Christmas break (maybe around 12/16). I interviewed... I think the end of January. The interview process was a little troublesome for me. I don't think I did so well because I was very very nervous. My last 90 quarter units GPA was a 3.6 and I think a 3.4 in my prereqs. If you don't get accepted they allow you to call back to see how you can improve your application for the following year. I applied for 2011 as well. Good Luck!
No problem! Well at first they have everyone go into one room (about 25-30 all together) and they present a powerpoint about the school and the program. Once the powerpoint is over they allow questions. Then from there you will be divided into groups and will follow the rotation. One group will go to their individual interviews one by one. One group will do a writing assignment (this does not reflect whether you are accepted or not. It is just to determine if you will need assistance in the program). They may just give you one word and you will define it in your own words (very simple). Then the third group will tour the campus. Then everyone will switch until they have gone to each. That is how the schedule was set last year; however, it may differ. For the interview portion, more specifically, I was interviewed by two women not really a panel (thank God!!). A lot of situational questions! Just give your honest opinion and you should be fine!
i feel the same way! no, i haven't talked to anyone from western about this year's application. i did however, attend an info session in 2009. everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful! but i was reading in a forum from last year that some people didn't hear about interviews until january!
are you applying for the FNP program? what other schools are you applying to if you don't mind me asking? :)

I'm applying to Western U's MSN-E program as well :)
Don't worry! With your stats, you should feel confident in getting an interview.
My undergrad is in Business Administration (a far cry from nursing) but I have a plethora of volunteer experience in the medical field including volunteering as a clinic assistant for Planned Parenthood for 4 months, and two local community clinics for 9 months. I also have additional years of volunteer experience catering to underprivileged families and the disabled. I hope that having an undergraduate degree in Business rather than a more related field doesn't hinder my chances of being accepted
My undergraduate GPA is 3.78
My science GPA is 3.77
& my prerequisite GPA is 3.81
Are you applying to additional programs as well?
