Anyone applying to WesternU's MSN-E program? If so, do you know when they will start the interview process? What they look for in their applicants (gpa, extracurricular, etc)?
Current students--What were your stats like?
Any information would be helpful =)
Thanks in advance!
Hi Everyone!
I know everyone is really anxious, but at least we only have one more week to wait (hopefully not longer!). =) I interviewed on 2/14 and there were about 20-25 people interviewing... we were also told we would probably find out the first week of March... It honestly can't come any sooner. I was wondering, however, if any one is feeling anxious or deterred by the tuition?? That $71,000 for the first 12 months is a CRAAAZY amount of money, and I'm wondering if any one knows if there are any affiliated hospitals with Western that will pay for part of their tuition, granted they work for that hospital after graduation?? I know most of these programs are really expensive, but that number just seems off the charts... Am I the only one who thinks so?
In addition, Congrats Ilnurse on your acceptance to Samuel Merritt! So exciting! I applied to their MSN-E FNP program and haven't heard anything yet. =( I also applied to GMU and got my acceptance letter last week! I'd prefer to stay in California, if possible, but we'll see. =)
Good luck everyone! Think good thoughts!
dlrosen: I think that if you look at the break down of the cost you will see where you might be able to save money. First it allows for 14,000+ in housing, which is like $1200 a month. If you spend less than that then you can take of some $ there. Also it has 6,500 in transportation, this can be less than or greater than what you spend annually on transportation, which you might already have factored into your current budget and might not apply. I have a roomate and we're spliting rent and my car is in my current budget so i'm expecting to take off 10,000 or so from the expenses they have listed.
Western seems to be in some sort of agreement with at least 8 local hospitals. I'm sure one of them will want to make an agreement, but usually you have to be licensed first. They might help with post licensure expenses in exchange for working at their hospital.
Kitty: I have not heard anything yet, I also think it might be good that no one has posted yet. If people start posting that they got emails or letters and we don't get emails or letters, then I would start to really worry. I'm jealous that you all live in California and will get the mail much quicker. It took a letter from 40 miles away 5 days to get to me. It was in the same state and county! I can't even imagine how long it will take a letter from California to get to me!
