Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Yeah I know how to add them all up! Someone mentioned they didn't get in with 136 points, but I got an alternate seat and I didn't think I had that many points. So I guess I must have done it wrong!

Effective this year they have moved the application date for Spring back so summer classes can count towards the application. I took Bio 169 last summer, Bio classes are one session, so 12 weeks. I took it with Peter Kalogerins and got an A. He wants you to pass and do well!! Good Luck.

Closer to late July...you will only have a few days to get your application turned in.

So I'm assuming they don't start looking at spring applications until August or so then SassyS01, because I would think it would take a week or two for grades from the summer to post to our transcript...

If I remember correctly last year grades were posted by the 26th. I would think it safe to assume that they can pull them up internally right away but again this is the first year they have pushed the application date back, last year it was July 1st, so summer grades did not count till fall application (my case) so an advisor would know best.

Thank you so much for all of the information SassyS01. I remember talking to an advisor back in the fall and she was explaining the change but not in too much detail. She was saying in the past if you applied in January your fall grades would count, and if you applied in July your spring grades would count, but now in the spring, your spring and summer grades will count. Are you already in the clinical phase SassyS01?

Yeah alternate points are 140-161 I think she said, so you have at least 140. My letter didn't mention those points though, only the 162-210 for initial acceptance. I can't wait to see where I am at on the alternate list though. I have 156, so I'm hoping in the top 10, because then I feel like I'll have a good chance. Apparently they take a lot of alternates if she was like 48. It's still so stressful. They should just put your initial alternate status in your letter! Less than 3 weeks!

Did she say anything on how many alternates there are? Like 20,30, or 40.

No. The number of alternates change each year too. We won't really know much more until the orientation on the 15th. I did read from last falls post that the top two alternates got their acceptance the day of orientation, and everyone else got their alternate number, and then as people don't turn in stuff on time or fail spring classes or decide not to come back into the program from failing, they let alternates in. The one I'm hoping I'm like is the girl who was also short 6 points, she was alternate #8 and got in. I know last fall that the girl who was alternate #12 also got in, but idk how many after her were also accepted. It can be all summer before you find out too depending on when people drop or don't complete their tasks on time.

The girl who applied and was an alternate fro spring moved up 16 spots, so I think if you're in the top 10 or 20 you have a decent shot of getting in.
