I was just accepted to UTA as a student and just filled out the application for the traditional BSN program. I'm kind of worried that my stats might not be so great and wanted to see if anyone else has applied?
3.5 Science GPA
3.66 Overall
92 HESI
I am not partnered and I hadn't heard about that before I was on this site. I work full time in a non healthcare field.
I still need to take the three prerequisite classes (Pharmacology, Pathophysiologic Processes, Intro to Professional Nursing) at UTA, as well as Technical Writing, American History I, Texas Government, and College Algebra which should raise my overall GPA.
Any advice/ anyone else applying for Fall 2014?
Thanks! I applied to El Centro and North Lake in terms of dcccd campuses. UT Tyler is too far for me. I heard the same about TCU but take that with a grain of salt. The cost alone may leave the applicant pool scarce but a 2.8 sounds like a reach.
Good luck to you I hope u get in. Yea I heard the same but I can only hope for the best. I read that someone got in at TCU with a 2.8 gpa dont know how true that is. Have you try to apply to UT Tyler or dcccd
Hi everyone! I applied to both UTA programs too
- Sci GPA 4.0, overall 3.83, partnered. I really want to go to UTA!
I also applied to Brookhaven College, El Centro, and North Lake too. I've always wanted to be a nurse and finally going after my dream. Now I just need to be picked. Pick me! Pick me! (pretty please:))
Would like to know if anyone could advise me on my decision to attend UTA. I have a previous BS degree, and a 3.69 gpa overall at TWU, all pre-reqs are finished for that program but I did not make it in for this fall. Also I scored a 73 on the Teas5 exam. Should I apply and try to get into this program for nursing or is there another program I should be looking at? I work fly full-time and have been working on school part time for 3 years. Also I am in my 50's and do not want to stop being active in my work. I have always wanted to be a nurse. I have my CNA certification but eventually want to finish a BSN. Thanks for your input.
Well at UTA the criteria for the upper division selections are:
1. Science GPA (A&P I and II/ microbiology/chemistry)
2. Overall GPA on nursing prerequisites
3. Hesi score (pass/fail: must score above 75% on all sections)
Those are the main things they look at then there are the extra considerations such as:
1. 30+ hrs at UTA
2. 9+ science hrs at UTA
3. Honors class at UTA
4. Previous degree
Hope that helps :)
Thanks Qpid_Mi for responding. Guess I'm not in the running. I have all the required classes so I can't take credit for the 30 hours. Why bother applying as I can't see them even looking at me as a possible candidate. Oh, and the partnering thing? Could you explain this to me and how I can make that happen? Thanks, ladyflyer58

I only applied to UTA and TCC when that happened and was not accepted to either. I have increased my science gpa to 3.75 and I may take the HESI again but will wait and see. I really think I am in a competitive position that if all else fails one of the Dallas campuses will select me. They select by point system and I have 31 of of their 40 point scale... Hopefully 33 points if they accept my other course as subs. I can always take AP I again since uta had a three attempt rule (dropped one because the teacher was crazy and made a B the second time) but I am tired of taking classes just to get in. The only 3.5s I've heard get in are those select few that work for hospitals already.
