Nursing program
Published
Hello, I am currently a student at Suffolk county community college preparing to apply for the nursing program for fall 2021 start. I figured I would start this early since the deadline was extended to March 1st 2021. I am preparing to take the TEAS in December most of my prerequisites are finished with a grade of A and one B. If anyone has some great tips on how to score in the 80s and 90s feel free to share. I wish everyone the best of luck.
Hey, just read through this entire 7 page thread.. I'm late to the party!!
I also applied for the Fall 2021 start - Ammerman Campus... and I'm chilling here in limbo as well, with the daily email checks!!
For me: TEAS: 91.3% and Rubric: 81
I'm taking A&P 2 and haven't taken micro bio yet.. otherwise I have As in all my prereqs.. missing prereqs takes a big toll on the rubric score, doesn't it!!
I feel so invested in everyone on this thread and your journeys, I had to join the chat to see what happens for everyone!!
As for TEAS prep, in addition to what everyone else said.. I don't know how anyone does well without the ATI study material.. it's conpletely adequate for reading, math, and English.. but I agree it's not nearly enough in terms of science. I used it as an outline to study from.. what topics to study. I mostly learned what I didn't know from Khan academy! (Anyone else use that Youtube channel? It's amazing!). They pretty much have playlists containing series of about 8, 10 minute videos that cover each unit on the exam! EXTENSIVELY!! ATI Study material also comes with 2 practice exams that are basically identical to how you'll take them virtually.. I totally recommend taking the first one early on, as it shows you the topics you're struggling with. Adjust your studying accordingly, and take the 2nd practice exam the week or so leading up to the actual exam!! I also took A&P 1 with professor Kerry Scott at sccc, and she really did an amazing job. I was very comfortable with that material going into the exam! Highly reccommend her!! Obviously this is advice for people either retaking the TEAS or looking to apply in the future!!
Good luck everyone!! Hopefully we continue a thread like this in the fall when EVERYONE gets accepted!
Honestly.. it's more-so about the applicant pool. If one year's applicants averaged 85s on the rubric, and were scoring exceedingly high on the TEAS, my score wouldn't be very competitive. As opposed to if this year, the applicants are averaging mid 70s to low 80s.. my application becomes competitive. They accept the top, like 60ish for Ammerman. So it just really depends on who's applying.
Sorry that's not incredibly helpful.. Other people have commented about more specific numbers that have been considered "competitive scores" earlier in the thread though..
