Fall 2019 Nassau Community College Nursing Program

Published

Hi all! I’ve searched around & haven’t seen any threads on the Fall 2019 NCCC Nursing program applicants so I decided to start one. I would love to hear from current applicants, current/past students, family or friends of NCCC nurses. Any feedback is appreciated. Feel free to join in & let’s chat! ?

STAY AWAY FROM NASSAU COLLEGE NURSING!!! There have been MAJOR problems at this school with the nursing program. First, there graduation rate is terribly low. Only about half of those who start the program will graduate.

The big problems: A student was assaulted by one of the professors and the students reported it. The department chair did nothing, then had negative paperwork filed against the student.

The faculty got caught putting false grades in for students they did not like.

An entire class confronted the current department chair about a problem professor. This professor refused to teach and her class had lower test scores by almost 10%. The professor retaliated against a student by writing up false paperwork and getting him kicked out. The Dean and a department chair did nothing even though it was easily proven that the professor lied.

Criminal charges are being pressed against three professors. Plus a complaint against the school certification is being filed.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from NCC Nursing.

Okay I can’t speak to ANYTHING except the CURRENT accreditation status. The school as a whole was put on probation but has since been resolved. The nursing program is not on probation or at risk of accreditation being cancelled as of right now.

I’d advise checking on ACEN and CCNE when anyone goes for their RN-BSN for this. Some schools are accredited with “conditions” or “follow-ups” and might be a risk, but Nassau is not one right now. (Pictured below)

In my opinion some of this is not uncommon anywhere (getting retaliated against for a complaint, school siding with professor) I’ve had a professor ask for our opinions and I was new, not realizing that he just wanted you to agree with him. After he went around the entire class and they all just agreed with him, he came back to me to see that my opinion changed. Same professor required us to answer test questions with “Dr. Pasha says” and his definitions of actual dictionary words were incorrect. Multiple complaints, nothing done. I learned a good lesson though to not pick a fight I can’t win, and not make yourself stand out in a bad way.

It’s NOT right, but a power trip on their part, we are unfortunately at their mercy, and I would suggest that anyone just get through it best you can.

Nassau Community College was put on probation by Middle States Accreditation They cleared that probation... for now. That is the entire school. As for ACEN, those complaints are pending. Basically some of the students were still in the program and nobody wanted them to be retaliated against, So the decision was made to hold off until they graduate or leave. NCC Nursing is bad news. Save your money and time and go somewhere else. Word is also getting out about the stunts NCC is pulling.

The faculty at NCC nursing are of low moral character. What kind of person writes up false paperwork on students? As for the department chair, she's a complete failure. Students trusted her to do the right thing by students ans she failed. She is an embarrassment to the nursing profession and lacks integrity. Unfortunately the few good professors are bullied by the many bad ones.

You have been warned about NCC Nursing.

Did you attend the program or is this hearsay?

I was one of 12 graduating NCC students in my class of 38. It was a tough program to finish. I believe the complaints, although I remember Prof Buckley, who is now the Chair, and she was especially nice and helpful. She was not someone of low moral character at all - she must be powerless to stop what is going on. There were some very mean professors when I went through NCC. I remember one student made a complaint and they tortured her through the remainder of the program. They made at least one student cry every day by berating and screaming at them. A few of us confided in a professor we liked about how we were being treated and she actually cried. My husband was constantly telling me to go turn them all in but if I did - I wouldn't have graduated and I had put in so much sweat & tears already. After graduation we were all too exhausted to even think about going back and reliving all that craziness. I definitely suffered from PTSD!

When did you graduate?

Everyone I met so far has been very nice and helpful.

I graduated 6 yrs ago. I was happy to hear 2 of the worst ones had left NCC.

I did attend NCC. The last of our group just graduated in May. I witnessed first hand the atrocities of the NCC Nursing faculty.

One of the students has recordings of conversations with faculty saying things that should get them fired. Those recordings are part of the charges being brought. Yes they are legal.

For instance, I witnessed one faculty member walk right up to a group of students who were black. She said right to them it was like watching a bunch of monkeys. This was reported to NCC. What did they do about it? Nothing. In fact, they went after the students who reported it.

I watched one professor target the men in the class. She is known for doing it. She assaulted one of the men during a test. There were many witnesses. What did NCC do about it? Nothing.

Onr professor was caught putting in wrong grades for students. What did NCC do about it? Nothing.

The current and previous department chairs are of low moral character. They did not do the right thing. How could they ever be an advocate for a patient when they can't even stand by a student? They should both be embarrassed to collect a paycheck.

besides NCC faculty did anyone reported this instructors?

These things were reported all the way up to the Dean of Students... she did nothing as well. That is why it is being reported to ACEN who accredits the nursing program, Middle States, who accredits the school.

Seems odd that NCC accreditation is at risk when NCC has been approved and starting a program with ESC for a bachelors degree. Doesn’t add up to me.
