WOW! That's really sad to hear-but thanks for sharing and being honest. Just keep your eye on the prize. . .your degree! =] Just stay focused and don't let the teachers get to you. Try to enjoy nursing school. . .'cuz you won't ever get to do it again.
Basically, when I started there I was so excited, I felt proud and sure I was going to get the best education out there since it has been the case for many years and the school's reputation is great. Well things have changed I guess...as a current student there I am very disappointed in their approach used in educating us. I feel like I'm teaching myself most of what I know, and that the majority of the instructors, with a few exceptions, are not there to help us, but to make it harder for us so we can either fail or quit. There is no kindness from their part, and there is an unecessary amount of stress that is put upon us as nursing students. Good luck, you will need it if you go there...just kiss ass and keep your mouth shut (two things I've never been able to do and have to say that if this nursing school has taught me anything, that is probably the main one). that's why they say, if you make it at County you can make it anywhere, not because it is "good education" necessarily, but because it is so challenging and you are so on your own that if you are not used to that kind of education, you will have a difficult time :-).Pretty much county nursing in a nutshell... I am about to graduate from here in a couple months and I am beginning to regret coming here. My journey here has been unnecessarily difficult and to some degree, a waste of time. What Fabricia said is completely true about fourth semester. Just to shed some light, only 14 out of 93 students passed our last med-surg exam. Yes, only 15% of very capable and intelligent students passed. Many students will not pass and graduate because of it. Our original class from first semester consisted of aprox 68 students. From those 68 only about 30 of us remain and will graduate. It is very unfortunate that this school has over a 50% failure rate from start to finish. I was accepted to a number of nursing programs and decided to come here. If I were to do it all over again I would of just went to medical school...
