Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

So how did Tomball send applicants to fingerprinting, and Montgomery students get calls, if they haven't even looked at the applications. Ugh

Exactly I high doubt that’s accurate information. Especially since some Tomball students I know outside this forum also recieved fingerprint emails.

I’m sure the advisors are doing whatever they can to calm students down, especially during a critical time. But I’m that they’ve at least looked and sorted out applications by now. With orientation, TBON and the various other things required in the 4 months ended have before the fall semester we must be close to finding out results soon. Just trying to be optimistic here!! ?

For all we know Tomball could be the only school with everything sorted out but they’re waiting on the rest before sending acceptance letters. But who knows at this point? All of us are receiving different info from different advisors. ?

How is a roster being sent to TBON a glitch? It has to be composed and sent.

If everything was okay why haven’t we heard something yet? Okay you don’t have the answers you are making assumptions! For all you know everyone name could have been submitted since we all applied! Truthfully all our names have to be submitted because even if we don’t get in we might be placed on an alternate list! And as an alternate we still have to do the checklist! So reasonable speaking that could explain why only a few ppl got the email and not everyone that applied to Tomball! It was a glitch

Not to mention anyone with a criminal history may have to provide a DO and that process can take up to 30 days.

To be fair, (not trying to be mean here) there's no guarantee in any of that. A "possibly" isn't something solid and anybody can become a PCA so I think it's more to fill lower-level positions instead of any kind of "transition program".

It's no guarantee however, it's a foot in the door and when that offer was extended to LSC as a whole, it was extended to NH & no other campus. I'm not trying to be mean here, but you can only speak from your experiences and Montgomery can only speak of what they & what they know is what Montgomery does. NO ADN is guaranteed a position in any mag stat hospital due to the fact that "higher-level" RNs get priority. Now that's facts.

That's just not true. Not all names are submitted to TBON. Only those accepted and a select number of alternates will have their information sent to TBON for fingerprint request. If everyone's name was submitted like you said, then everyone would have gotten the email, and that would explain a glitch.

I feel like you are taking this a little too personally. No one here is attacking the credibility of your friend, we just suspect the information the advisor gave to be false. Advisors don't know everything. Sometimes they make their own assumptions based off hear-say and it tends to be false information.

The CBC portion in addition to an orientation, documentation submission as well as other things have to be done in time. There's no way they haven't touched applications by now.

How do you know are you at advisor at lonestar? Were in the program before ?

I wouldn't call it "incredible," I'd call it expected. You shouldn't go into a program with the mentality of it being "incredible" that they train you well enough. You should go into a program with the expectation that they train you that well.

I wouldn’t have expected this from the cost of tuition, maybe slightly higher expectations elsewhere. No institution is able to train you to where you actually should be as a whole class and each students situation is always different.

I have done extensive research on the process and know how and when TBON does what it does relating to the background check. I'm typically a well-informed person as I do thorough research on matters and don't take anecdotal evidence with much weight. In addition, I know the list of documentation to provide is long, and it has to be verified. That takes time. Add to that the fact the deadline has been extended this year.

Cost of tuition does not always equate to the quality of education. Le Tourneau University has a 100% NCLEX pass rate. It's possible to train each student to exceptional standards.
