Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

I just want to get in. We have to all just stay positive and wait. I know it’s easier said than done, but we should be trying to enjoy this free time while we can. I don’t think anyone knows when we will hear anything, we can all just hope and keep checking our emails. I applied to Montgomery with a 7.664 have taken pharm and haven’t heard anything. I just hope we hear if we get in real soon. Like not fingerprinting but get acceptance or denial or waitlists. Positive vibes y’all!!!!!!!

Not really seeing what's funny. I'm going off the known TBON process and known LSC process for document submission after acceptance. You're going off what someone heard...

That's for one year. If you look at historical numbers, certain campuses have done better than others, but as a whole, the LSC program is improving. They are in the process of getting approvals for their BSN program as well.

I'm not trying to do anything but throw out information and statistics for anyone who cares, as some of this may relate to how easy it is to find a job in the bigger hospital systems in Houston.

The fact is, ADNs are going to have a hard time finding a job in 2021 in major systems. There are states who have been trying to pass BSN requirement legislation for a decade. I don't know how many of you are core complete or just good enough for the ADN program, but you may want to look at taking core courses in summer to get closer to being core complete. Being BSN-ready at the time of an interview could be very advantageous as employes know you are roughly one year from obtaining the BSN, instead of a minimum of three years. It's something to think about ? the more informed you are, the better off you are.

Do you know any more information about Lonestar trying to be approved for the BSN program. I did research and was not able to find much other than a video encouraging people to vote in favor of the legislation allowing them to begin the program. I plan on being core complete by the time I finish the program (or possibly the summer after) to go directly into an RN to BSN program. I've been wondering how long this will take them to get set up or even if they are going to pursue it since there isn't any info? I am planning on either SHSU or tech for now, especially since I plan on pursuing a master's and am not sure how they'll look at me completing all my undergrad at a 2 year lol. But just curious

I have a 7.664 as well and first choice Montgomery. Taking Pharm Summer II at NH. Whether you took Pharm already won't help or hurt your chances of getting in, it just lightens your load once you are in.

I take a research-driven approach. Don't really know how that's "funny." Good luck to you in nursing school with your attitude.

The original goal was to have it up and running by 2021 but they are stuck in some of the approvals processes and it's holding up when the program will be fully approved and accredited. At this point, the availability is unknown and it's information they don't really want to publicize obviously.

Sir I’m a very happy person which is why i laughed! And thank you for the well wishes and same to you with your know it all attitude! Good day

Fair points made, do you know if we’ve already had our finger prints done before would they require it again specifically for the program?

It's not a "know-it-all" attitude. It's a well-researched stance which means I know of what I speak, not because of ego, but because I have done the research. Your sarcasm didn't go unnoticed.

If you got your fingerprints done before TBON requested them, yes, you will have to get them done again.

OMG!!! We are starting to turn on each other. LMAO. The stress and anxiety is getting to us. We are getting our letters Monday!!! Everyone is getting in somewhere, we will all pass NCLEX on the first try, and we will all be hired as residents in our desired fields. That's it and that's all ???xoxoxo
