FALL 2020 Johns Hopkins MSN: Entry into Nursing

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone,

I'm currently preparing to apply to JHSON MSN: Entry into nursing program for fall 2020. I was wondering anyone has an idea what the acceptance criteria is?

I have a very good gpa in undergrad (3.92) so the admissions team told me I do not need to include GRE scores.

Also how many words should our essays be?

Best of Luck!

Hi. This may be a dumb question but does getting accepted to the Entry MSN guarantee that we will be accepted to the DNP program upon completion or does it just help us get a foot in the door?

No way it's a guarantee. It's can hurt getting accepted, but I saw you getting in is going to depend on grades, letters of recommendation, essays, and what other requirements they have applicants. If you that's what you want, I would definitely reach out to admissions and seek a mentor.

Hi all,

Current student at JHSON here (started Fall 2019). Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the program and application. Good luck to you all!

Hi,

My inquiry is about accommodation. Which areas/ apartment complexes are relatively less expensive? With good amenities, proximity to the school and a number of jhuson students reside in?

I was thinking of looking around when i go for the accepted students day next week

I applied for the Jan 1 deadline so I'm not a student yet, but I am a native of Baltimore so I might have some insight on accomodations in the city. Depending on your style and expectations, there are a multitude of options in the city. Personally I live in the Charles Village area (near Hopkins Homewood- the undergrad campus) and I plan on commuting from there using public transit / school shuttles. It's an area that is less dense than the downtown campus with plenty of parks and things to do.

I am so curious does anyone know what the acceptance rate of this year's program was?

I was at the Accepted Students Day on January 25. I asked one of the admissions directors, who I had met previously at the information session I attended back in October, how many applications they received for this cohort. I was told is was 658. On the bus tour of Baltimore, another admission director said they typically get 600 to 700 applicants.

Hey everyone!

The deadline for the second round of application review just passed (February 15th). Did anyone by chance apply?

A few people mentioned they were planning to apply by the non-early decision deadline.

SON does take into account how many people commit from the early decision pool. It affects how many spots they have for the latter group. I did not get the impression they use all the spots for the early pool. They could end up with extra spots was my impression.

Is this for the Fall 2020 cohort? I thought there was only the Nov 1 and Jan 1 deadline?

I submitted my application prior to the priory deadline. How long does it take for the status “Received” to change?

According to JHU SON website, you are correct. The February 15 may be the deadline the SON imposes on themselves to review all applications for Jan 1. The website also says notifications are sent out early March.

If the early decision pool is any indicator, it did not. I got an email when my application was considered complete.
