Fall 2019 Johns Hopkins MSN: Entry Into Nursing Hopeful

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone,

I'm currently preparing to apply to JHSON MSN: Entry into nursing program. I was wondering if those of you who are current or former students of the program could share your credentials, GRE Scores, GPA, and experience of being an MSN Entry Into Nursing student. I know that I am asking for a lot. I'm a bit worried that my GPA will not be high enough. Cum GPA is a 3.3 but my prereq GPA is 3.7

In general, the likelihood of getting into an elite school is 3X with early decision compared with regular ones. But for nursing schools, there are many other factors to take into considerations if one wants to do early or not since they have only 3 weeks to decide if admitted. I can't do early decision since I have other schools I applied to that will send out admissions decisions in March as opposed to ED that sends out in Dec.

JHU doing ED to see how many of the ones they admitted will be sure to enroll in the school and they select the remaining ones based off of the quota left from the regular pool. That definitely more competitive.

Thanks for the info! Still knowing anyones statistics would be helpful lol.

Did admissions from JHU tell you this information?

Just out of curiosity is there a reason why those of you who have been accepted do not want to share your statistics? I respect your decision I am just interested in why. ?

Maybe it’s a lack of enthusiasm to participate in this online forum. Or just shyness. ;)

Question. When is the final day for regular decision to accept their spots? I know early action applicant deposit must’ve passed by now, or will be soon, so what about the regular decision people?

About 3 weeks from the day you receive your decision

I’m happy to let you know my stats. I am a current undergrad senior and have an overall GPA at an Ivy League of 3.6, my prerequisite gpa is 3.33. I am a division 1 athlete and have little healthcare experience except for some volunteer work in a primary care focused outreach program. I applied to the early deadline and was accepted dec 22nd and offered a merit scholarship.

Futurenurs_ congrats on your acceptance!!! And thank you, I appreciate you sharing your statistics! ?

Hi! I got accepted through early admissions and have a cumulative 3.4 GPA from bachelor's and masters and prerequisite GPA is probably around 3.7, I didn't add it up. I have research experience and experience as a firefighter EMT.

Did anybody get accepted into an MSN-DNP track and if so do you know if the last year is like a residency that you can do outside of Baltimore?

Congrats and good luck to all!

I was lurking and noticed JHU extended their MSN application deadline past 1/1 but today, I noticed the "still accepting applications" is not present on their website but NursingCAS is still accessible. Anyone know if they're still taking applications?

They still are. They take applications probably till the end of feb before the decisions are made from my past observations.

I'm bummed because my GPA was higher before NursingCas factored it in. I really want to go to Hopkins. Its my top choice and now I'm even more nervous ?.
