Fall 2019 Johns Hopkins MSN: Entry Into Nursing Hopeful

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone,

I'm currently preparing to apply to JHSON MSN: Entry into nursing program. I was wondering if those of you who are current or former students of the program could share your credentials, GRE Scores, GPA, and experience of being an MSN Entry Into Nursing student. I know that I am asking for a lot. I'm a bit worried that my GPA will not be high enough. Cum GPA is a 3.3 but my prereq GPA is 3.7

@futureNPNick, I submitted on November 1st and it was marked as completed by JHSON shortly after. I have used NursingCAS before though, so everything was already verified. Fingers crossed for all of us!

@krobinson19, I applied for Fall but emailed them that I would be interested in Spring if spaces are available and they like me back (haha). Haven't heard though.

Hi FutureNPNic

Mine took only a few days to become verified. I think it was because I kept emailing nursing cas with questions that they really wanted to get mine over with. Once it is verfied though the school has it. Also I emailed admissions and they said they just need to see that you submitted by the deadline and that verification by nursing cas takes time after and they allow that to occur.

Does anyone know if they accept letters of recommendation from Interfolio?

Hi Projexr58,

I am unsure what Interfolio is. My assumption is no. What happens is in the nursing Cas application you put your reference and their contact info in. NUrsing Cas then reaches out to the reference and requests them to upload a letter and also they must fill out a questionaire about you.

Does anyone know we are going to hear back? Or has anyone heard back?

@M3 If you look at prior forums, all the students that applied on the deadline heard between Dec 23rd> 28th. However I am unsure of the date range for this year. So we have about a month until we hear anything really.

My question for everyone is who all applied to the program that is out of state? Is anyone going to be looking for roommates? If so I believe I will be. That is if I am accepted. Has anyone started to look at housing arrangements? Also the site states a car is needed for clinical sites. Does anyone know if this is truly necessary? Just a lot to consider as an out of state applicant.

Is there anyone here who is applying in between the early action and priority deadline? I am turning in my application tomorrow and hope it will be verified within a week or so. Does anyone mind sharing their statistics (e.g. GPA, work experience, research). My GPA is 4.0 in Psychology, 3.9 prerequisite GPA and I think my cumulative GPA is 3.4 (still waiting for the nursingcas). I have two years of working in the medical field and two years of medical research. I would love to hear from others who are currently or have previously applied and been accepted. Wishing everyone the best!

krobinson219,

I am an out of state applicant as well. The website says that 90% of students are placed within Johns Hopkins hospitals. However, I have heard that some students may be placed an hour from baltimore. I totally understand, the logistics of moving to a new state can be confusing.

@VwBee89 Have you started to look at housing? For a student is is really expensive. I am trying to see where costs can be cut.

I tried posting a reply @krobinson219 but it didn't post. Yes, I have started looking at housing options in Baltimore. So far, I like Fells Point because of safety and convenience reviews. I haven't planned much more than that because I want to hear back from admissions first. I just turned in my application today and I am waiting to be verified by NursingCas. I wonder when I will hear back about admissions considering I turned the application in between the two different deadlines. @krobinson219 out of curiosity what are your stats (gpa, GRE, experience)?

@VwBee89 I applied on Oct 31st and it took like a week to get verified. Transcript issues. However the deadlines are both Nov 1st and Jan 1st. So People that applied towards the deadline of Nov 1st usually hear back the week before or of Christmas fro prior forums. I have not looked at neighborhoods but ideally I would like to be close to campus. I am uncertain though. My stats weren't amazing. I did pretty poorly in undergrad. However I am in my MBA program and have a 3.87 in grad school and for the prefers I have received A's, one B, and one A-. I have two undergraduate degrees one in child development and family studies, another in finance. My grad degree will be an MBA specializing in finance. I have been a teacher, worked in clinical mental health settings, and within accounting and finance. When I contacted admissions they said its more of a holistic approach to admissions. They want diverse candidates so all I can do is hope my background is something they do like. Did you take prefers through JHU or another university?
