Fall 2019 Johns Hopkins MSN: Entry Into Nursing Hopeful

Published

Hey everyone,

I'm currently preparing to apply to JHSON MSN: Entry into nursing program. I was wondering if those of you who are current or former students of the program could share your credentials, GRE Scores, GPA, and experience of being an MSN Entry Into Nursing student. I know that I am asking for a lot. I'm a bit worried that my GPA will not be high enough. Cum GPA is a 3.3 but my prereq GPA is 3.7

Hi! I am actually currently living in Seattle and I'm applying to JH for Fall 2019 entry. I assume you're going since you got in? Have they helped navigate the loan process/how to pay for the program? That is my biggest worry, if I were to actually get in. I have approx 40k out from my masters program. You live and learn, though... and nursing is absolutely what I want to do. NP my goal, eventually. Any advice you have or what you've learned through the process is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Adrack - thanks for sharing this advice. My biggest worry, if I am lucky enough to get in, is paying for the program. How has the school been with that process? The amount is over what you can borrow federally - did they offer assistance with where to obtain the required loans for tuition? Not to mention covering somewhere to live and food to eat... Thanks!

Hi! I was accepted for Spring 2019. I'm in the Seattle area now, so we are making the big move soon! They were very helpful with financial aid. I got a small scholarship, and the rest will be covered by student loans. The price tag is HEFTY, so definitely be prepared for that. But I believe it's going to be worth it! I've talked with many current and former students and no one has had negative things to say. My awards were pretty straight forward, but I have heard from current/former students that if you are having issues figuring out how to pay/ how to navigate the options available, they are super helpful. Best of luck in the application process!

Hi All! The application for early priority is in 2 days!!! I am applying and freaking out. I am wondering if anyone else on this forum is submitting the application this week or waiting till January 1st? I did not see an available application for a January deadline on Nursing CAS. After I hit that submit button I am going to be nervous all the way through till December. Totally unhealthy! haha thanks Nursing school! Ironic the unhealthy processes we put ourselves through to be able to help others.

Hello, I applied for Fall 19. My GRE scores were horrible at the time I had a sleeping disorder didn't even know it. I started from community college so my CGPA is a 2.8 and my prereq is 3.2 (AS in General Sciences) and since I graduated from a Master program last year. I decided not to take the GRE's at all since I know I am capable of doing graduate level work. I have a MPH in Community Health and I thought JHU MEPN would a be great fit for me I see a lot of correlation between the two my concentration GPA is 3.9 and my over GPA is 3.6.

Congratulations to all that have gotten in!! I have applied for Fall 2019 but noticed on their website they are sitting accepting applications for Spring, so I let them know I'd be willing to start early if I'm lucky enough to get in!

Anyway, I'm originally from Seattle and also have kids. Hopefully I get some good news soon so we can share some tips on relocating with kids, neighborhood selection and such.

M3,

It seems like your GPA was pretty high!!! I ma nervous as I have a high Grad GPA bt my undergrad I shot myself in the foot. Did you take your prereqs through JHU or a community college?

La Tee dah,

Did you end up submitting for fall or spring? I did not know they were still accepting fr spring. Did you take your prereqs from JHU or undergrad elsewhere?

Hi Adam! Did you happen to take your prereqs from JHU before applying to the program?

Yes, my Grad GPA is high. However, my undergrad CGPA is low its just a 2.8. Yet, my prerequisites are 3.0 exactly. I took all my preqs at community college and I am only missing one class. However, if I get accepted I will take that remaining class in the Spring of next year.

M3 I am taking my prefers through JHU online. I have one more to go. Microbiology. it starts January but I am hesitant to pay for it right now considering it is 1400$. Do they look at the overall undergrad GPA calculated by nursing was or do they look at the scores separately as post bach work is also a factor for the prefers.. Ugh confusing!

Hey Everyone!

I'm also an applicant for the Fall 2019 entry. I submitted my application on Oct 30, two days before the priority deadline. I didn't realize that it takes NursingCas sometime to actually verify your application before the school gets it. :-( So currently, I'm in the complete status now (been complete since friday) anxiously waiting to be verified. Is anyone else in the same boat? Also, I know that the website says it might take up to two weeks to be verified. I'm wondering if anyone's application took less than that?

Thanks!
