Hi, I will be applying to hcc for fall 2020. My stats are:
overall gpa- 3.35
pre req gpa-3.5
teas- 75%
Do I have a chance of getting into the program for the fall term?

Also, they might answer these types of questions at the online orientation, but that sheet of supplies, like stethoscope, watch.....I remember seeing stethoscopes at the bookstore, do they prefer we buy those or any specific brands? I feel so out of water with my naive questions.
I ordered two scrub tops, two scrub bottoms and a jacket. I got penlights for clinicals and two white long sleeve undershirts from allheart.com as well for colder months. I have a Littman stethoscope!

I would recommend not ordering uniforms yet! They will give you more information at orientation. They require specific embroidered uniforms from a certain company for clinicals!!

Are uniforms/scrubs worn during lectures as well? Not sure cause I know a few other places only require them to be worn for lab/clinicals, so not sure if HCC has certain requirements

The email they sent out today actually tells us where to purchase them from, and that we need at least one embroidered scrub top! ?

Uniforms are required for lectures as well. You are able to wear a plain white scrub top, embroidered scrub top, or an HCC nursing association t-shirt which can be purchased for $20 from the nursing association directly!! You have to basically wear the scrub bottoms everyday you are in class, lab, or lecture so I would get 2 or 3! Your hair can be down for class but must be up for lab and clinicals! I hope this helps.

Yes this is so helpful! Thank you so much!
I know it’s kinda late tonight but I have one question! Do you know what they’re leaning towards for their plan for fall clinicals? I know they’re saying that things could change any minute and to be prepared because of COVID-19, but I wasn’t sure if they had an idea as of now what they were going to do!

I created a facebook page for cohort 1!
Do you mind if I "borrow" some of the info you put in your group description for our Cohort 2 page? You summed everything up so perfectly, including rules!

Great question! There are still many unknowns. I personally feel that some of our lectures many be online while important labs and things will be on campus in the simulation lab. I’m also unsure what is going to happen with clinicals. Having to end my first semester of nursing online was rough. Not going to the hospital doesn’t help us gain that experience we need! I definitely don’t feel that I can become a great nurse if I don’t get that hands on experience! Who knows. This is the email we all received from HCC.
