Hey,

GPA of 3.6 and Teas of 91.3. I heard from students that the TEAS means nothing for admissions at HCC, Just need the minimum. I will be applying here and to Polk. Good luck to you both!

I'm gonna be applying for Spring 2021, but I definitely want to see what the cutoff GPA and such is for you guys, so I'll be camping out in this thread!

Right now, I have a 3.0 GPA, even.

Passed:

ENC 1102 - B
SYG 2000 - B

In Progress:

MCB 2000 - A
MCB 2000L - A

(Taking Ethic and I have a B in that).

I'm currently taking MCB 2000/2000L online and the outlook for me is looking to be As in both of them. During the Summer, I'm going to take BSC 2084/2084L and MAT 1033 to refresh myself with my maths. Then during the Fall, I'll be taking BSC 2085/2085L and MAC 1105.

Are the TEAS generally easy? What is all does it consist of?

**Fall 2021, since the deadline for Spring 2021 is August 15th and I won't make it.

Hey,

I do not know much about the HCC admissions process, because they do not post their methods. Polk, SPC, and Pasco implement a points system. I am not sure HCC does the same. All I can tell you is what I have heard from people who did and did not get in: Note, the following is only conjecture and what I have heard, it does not mean any of it is entirely true.

It does not matter what you get on your TEAS test, only as long as you achieve the minimum. I know one person who got in who had a GPA of 3.0 and the a TEAS in the high 60s and I know someone who was denied with a GPA of 3.5 and a TEAS of 80. I have heard from someone else that they heard it was a lottery system: As long as you meet the minimums, both TEAS and GPAs, you are put in a giant hat and picked out at random.

Because all of this seems to be conjecture, I would just focus on what you can actually control: Yourself. Just keep grinding, get all As, and score as high as you can on the TEAS test. Do not put all of your eggs in to one basket. Apply to every state school in your area and be hopeful. I have scoured these forums and I read about people who are really nervous and post their stats and what they deem as unworthy point totals, to actually end up getting in to the school they want. You cannot control the admissions, you can only control YOU. So, just do your best and be hopeful, and you will succeed.

The TEAS test. Everything you will read about the TEAS test from people will be their own personal opinion and judgement. Realize, everyone is different and has different strengths. I did well on the TEAS test because I felt prepared. I focused on areas that I knew would trip me up on a test. Science is usually the hardest because it covers a breadth of topics. Math was my easiest because I used to be a math major and I just love math. It is only a 10th grade level, and I would argue it is more like an 8th-9th grade level. English can be tricky because although we speak the language every day, we may not entirely be speaking it correctly, and we also do not pay attention to why we speak and write the way we do, therefore we tend to have some difficulty explaining exactly what a predicate is and/or the different types of sentences, for example. Just buy one of those books and read and practice. Also, do not just study on the topics. There are plenty of tricks and tips to do well on a standardized test, such as immediately eliminating 2 answers. I think a lot of people focus too much on what is on the test rather than how to take these kinds of tests. If you are applying for Fall 2021, then I suggest taking your first TEAS test in Jan 2021. If you do not do as well as you would like, wait a month and take it in Feb. As soon as you answer the final question, your results are tallied and presented to you.

Good luck with everything and just stay optimistic and disciplined.

Hi everyone,

I am also applying for the fall 2020.

GPA- 4.0

Overall- 3.9

TEAS- taking it in March (super nervous)

Good luck everyone !!!

Hello,

I was accepted in 2017 with these stats. You can infer whatever you'd like about the selection process. They have hundreds of applications every semester and take highly qualified candidates.

Prerequisite GPA: 4.0

Overall (HCC GPA): 3.7

Cumulative (University +/- GPA): 3.625

TEAS: 88%

Two questions...

1. I'm applying for the fall semester, but haven't taken the TEAS test yet. With coronavirus, campus is closed. Anyone hear anything about how we're supposed to take it? Is it even possible to still take it? I tried emailing campus, but haven't heard back yet.

2. Are first and second attempts at classes factored into the pre-req GPA or just the highest grade? I took anatomy 2 twice and received much better grades the second time.

Thanks

@jaymes I contacted HCC and they just told me that they have decided to waive the TEAS exam for the May 15th deadline (Fall 2020 Program). I too was scheduled to take the exam this month and am unable to do so due to the coronavirus. Pasco-Hernando State College is my first choice, but as of now they haven't waived their TEAS requirement.

My overall GPA is a 3.9!

Thanks so much for letting me know! I emailed the HCC testing centers and they told me all TEAS tests were canceled, but never heard anything official from the nurse department. I guess I’ll just wait a few weeks and mail in my application. Thanks!

I’m also planning to apply for the Fall 2020 term! I’m nervous since the last two terms were extremely competitive. I was scheduled to take the TEAS on April 6th. I emailed the plant city testing center, and they confirmed that HCC Health Science departments is waiving the TEAS requirement for the Fall admission cycle. Were you able to get a refund from ATI?
