Nursing Students School Programs

Is anyone applying to cal state east bay this fall for fall 2017 ???! nursing program

hey everyone!

Sorry for being so late, I got accepted on May 10th.

My stats:

GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 92

+ native student

+ foreign language

To all on the waitlist, there is a HUGE chance you will get in. If you read discussions from previous years, people on the third tier of the waitlist eventually got in.

Keep in mind, many people on the waitlist decide not to go into the program (even if they are eventually accepted).

All the best!

Has anyone looked at the nursing roadmap for our class compared to the one for following year? They are doing in one semester what we are doing in two. It's like we have two "Semester 5" I can't help but wonder why?? Just wondering as I start planning my life for the next three years! Ha! When do we find out when orientation is?? I feel like there is a lot to do this summer, with CPR, physical, titers, etc. Is anyone taking the drug dosage class at CCC?

The reason for the extra semester has to do with the conversation.

I'm trying to get a handle on the roadmap as well. Basically the roadmap is showing summer school included. I've talked to a current EB Nursing student and she says they have summers off for the first 2 years. Mid June - late Sep. Are we going to get summers off or no? Makes a big difference for myself, every other Nursing school i have got into has summers off.

Have you tried calling the Nursing Depart. for clarification? If you do, please post it. I was under the impression that there was always at least one summer you don't get off, which is what the roadmap is saying. My friend who is currently in the program definitely has this summer off. Although I'd love to have both summers off, I'm okay planning for one summer to have a clinical and skills, which I am assuming is what it is given the smaller number of units. Also I'm still okay with it since I prefer having the semester be preceptorship, which is included.

What other programs are you considering other than Sac State?

Ok thank you! I got into CSULA as well. I passed on USF, tuition was crazy. CSULA has a huge summer break and a pretty long winter break too. Also a 3 yr program. I will call EB today and try to find out the details.

Summers are usually off but because- once again- the transition to semesters, summers will include a bridge course and some clinical skills. For our cohort only

I agree that the private school tuitions are high, especially if you can get into a public program. Even the ADN-BSN transition is worth the costs savings. CSULA has a good program as well. Would you relocate to go to school there?

I only chose local programs because my family is here near Concord and I didn't want to move. I have kids so having to go to school one summer isn't ideal, but I figure it's only for one summer and we'd have to manage it, and besides, once I'm working, they'd have to deal with it anyway.

Have you received anything in the mail from CSUEB? They told me that we'd get an admission email followed by a letter, but I haven't seen anything yet. Perhaps it will be after the May 31 deadline..

Might be helpful for some

attachment shows quarter to semester conversion dates.

I was also informed they will be notifying people of school assignment or preference after May 31.

@ BabyD00Ks I would have to Relocate to attend CSULA, and I have kids as well, who I would need some time off to see throughout the year, summer usually being the best bet. I have to relocate for CSUEB as well. I live by Sacramento.

Thanks for attaching the calendar. This is helpful for planning, especially when you have kids. During the quarter system, there isn't much of a break between them. But there's more of a break once the semester system starts. It does seem that our cohort is the most affected by the quarter to semester transition.

@Truebluefoo - It's a tough decision to have to pick schools especially if you have to relocate to attend either of them. I've lived near Sac and down near LA so I know both areas, but I prefer NorCal since my extended family is up here. Consider also where you'd like to settle after you're done with the program because where you do your clinicals and preceptorship will help you to get a job afterwards. Adding kids to the decision-making also makes things harder. Good luck with whatever you decide.
