Fall classes

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I was just wondering what everyone will be taking. I tried to get into A&P I but it was booked up and also the nursing director said it's very hard to get into it so to build our schedules around it. I hope to get into it come spring.

My fall class list is Microcomputer literacy (won't require much effort), Intro to Sociology, General Psych, Comp I (another easy class for me) and Basic Biological Concepts which wasn't required, but recommend for those who had been out of school for awhile. Actually the health sciences woman told me those who usually don't opt to take it either end up failing or barely passing A&P. It's a good thing to take it because the Microbiology professor also recommended it.

And was wondering if Sociology is boring. I opted to take it online but will go on monday nights to the college for psych.

I just finished signing up for classes:

Anatomy

Physiology

Chemistry

Developmental Psych (online)

I know, lots of sciences, but I've taken them all before so really, they're kind of refresher courses for me so I'm hoping it'll work out. If it gets to be too much, I may just drop the Chem.

A&P1 possibly w/ Micro. God the thought of it turns my stomach.

Specializes in CNA; LPN Student.

I'm just starting out so I'm taking Chemistry, English 1, and Intermediate Algebra

My sociology class was BORING....zzzzzzzzzzzz. The teacher was good, but I think I just didn't like the subject matter. It was a requirement, so whatta going to do. It wasn't a difficult class, but I had a hard time focusing.

Specializes in ED, ICU, MS/MT, PCU, CM, House Sup, Frontline mgr.

I am done with pre-reqs and I will complete my last co-req at the end of Summer. This Fall I am taking a dosage calculations course for the ADN program and a course on ethics for the BSN program.

I have not decided as of yet if I will get my BSN, but since I am waiting around for admissions and I might change my mind later, I decided to sign up. I already have 2 out of 4 BSN pre-reqs complete due to my previous degrees.

Good luck to everyone. This Fall should fly... I can remember the beginning of last Fall.

So I dropped that one class and am back in the basic science class. I don't know what to do! I don't want to take an extra day off work this semester.

I had gotten a letter today about the microcomputer literacy class, which doesn't start until the middle of oct. Anyway, it basically said that until ALL tuition is paid, I couldn't buy books with my aid money and that until the class starts, the tuition won't be paid? I called financial aid and asked, he asked if I was a first time borrower, which I'm not. I've borrowed in the last 10 years and he said well I should be ok. So why risk it....as luck would have it, a spot in the ML class that starts in august opened up so I took it. It's a self paced course meaning I can finish it as soon as I want and I intend to finish it within a couple weeks. It's basic computer stuff, stuff I already know and wouldn't struggle with.

Anyway, I've got people on me that I"m taking too much. Yes i have kids and yes I work part time. THese same people are telling me I should be only taking 1 class at a time or else quit my job. Neither are happening. I don't have much trouble picking stuff up....and wondering if I should even bother with the science class. But I do want to be sure I pass A&P the first time and have a friend who has already went through that same basic science class and said it was pretty easy.

So yes, I'll be a full time student, part time worker with two young kids (well one will be in first grade come fall). If nothing else, I will drop a class once we get going but still....I think I will be fine. I pick up things easily.

If I was taking something like microbiology or A&P then yes, I could see because I imagine those classes require quite a bit of study time- both A&P classes and Micro is 4 credits each at my school.

I'm planning to take A&P 2 and Nutrition, and that should finish me up as far as pre-requisites. I will plan to take Microbiology maybe next Spring.

I'm not sure if this would be helpful to you, but here it was hard to get into the A&P and Microbiology classes, but I was given a tip by someone in admission and records that worked for me on a few classes. Check with your school on what they do to students for non payment. What happened here, was the day after fees were due, anyone who hadn't paid were purged from the classes, so the opportunity to enroll presented itself. All of our enrollment is online, so all I had to do was log in and enroll in a spot after someone else was purged for nonpayment.
