So I will be starting as a pre-nursing student this fall and I have a few of the pre-reqs already out of the way due to my other degree. Now I signed up for:
Intro. to A&P
Intro. to Chemistry
Sociology(online)
Intro. to Algebra
Is this absolutely ridiculous? I REALLY don't want this second degree to take me as long as my first did. I will be working no more than 15 hours a week if that helps.

To keep me organized I usually kept one seperate notebook for each class. That way I could keep all handouts, notes, lecture powerpoints, etc. in the same place. I could also eliminate carrying so much to school every day! I don't think your courseload is too over whelming, if anything it will help better prepare you for your nursing program! Good luck!!
You don't have to be nervous, the point was to not overload and do average when you can take less of a load and do fantastic. As in another post, it depends on your location, what type of school and what the school's requirements are. You are young and have lots of time so not sure why cramming all those classes in. That is a lot with labs and will be an unbelievable amount of homework. Basically you need all the pre-reqs so when you said I thought if I had a 4.0....... it is that you are planning on getting a 4.0 taking these five classes at once. Only you know your study habits and capabilities. No doubt, you will be very busy, I wish you the best.
Thanks for your help. I think I can manage 2 science classes at once. I just want to finish this as fast as possible because I want to get on with my life and dont want to lose any time. I have no job or kids and I have plenty of scholarships to pay off college so money isn't an issue. I hope I can get a 4.0 and if anyone took 5 classes at once please tell me your experience! :)
Thanks a TON you guys! It's SO nice to have actual students and nurses as a support system! My step dad is a nurse and he is just negative about it all! It's overwhelming to go to my moms and here him put down what I want! But anyways... Sorry Im just feeling a bit down today since I've talked to him!
A&P is a lot of rote memorization. You can start now to teach yourself, because that's really what you do in A&P, anyway. It's not a spectator sport. You dig into the book and memorize stuff, constantly. If you have a bad teacher, you might find that you get nothing out of the lectures.Right now, start through the first chapters. Memorize all of bones of the body, their orifices and protuberances. Start learning the Latin roots of body part names, so that the names will make more sense. Get an A&P book, or the actual one you'll use for Fall. Most schools let you use one or two editions back, since the don't change muck, or get the paperback International edition from ebay. If you get the bones down, then start on the muscles. Anything you can get done ahead of time will mean less stress and cramming when you start taking tests. There's not need to wait for the class to start. As I said, you have to teach yourself all those terms and such. You don't need a prof for that.
Thank you so much for your reply and ideas! Do you think the paperback international edition would work well for me? I will be taking the intro a&p class. My school sucks and won't budge on telling us what books we need until a week before school starts! Meanies!

International edition is fine. All my science classes I bought IE editions, except Micro I just bought the edition under the edition they were using at school for 3 bucks used online lol.
I'm in a similar schedule situation this fall, so I know what you're going through.
One thing I like to do though, and I'm quickly finding out it's not something other students do, is I write my notes on a legal pad. I find when I do that, flipping through pages to review is much easier and smoother than going back and forth in a notebook. Hope that is helpful.

I think you will do fine... It's all about determination.
I have 3 children and work 20-25 hrs a week. My first semester (Fall 2009) I took.. Intro to A&P, Intro to Chem, College Comp I, and General Psych. Took the Pax Test a month after the semester was over, so I can apply for the nursing program. Then Spring semester, I took A&P I, Organic Chem I, Sociology, and Student Success Seminar to be a full-time student. I obtained 4.0 for both semesters. I really believe it is because I was fortunate to have wonderful professors. I am hoping I will have good professors this semester as well. I am taking A&P II, Organic Chem II, Human Growth & Development (online), Intro to Gerontology.. because my Sociology instructor is teaching it. Then Spring semester I plan on taking Microbiology and College Comp II. Appearantly at Stark State College, the ADN program requires us to take 2 college comp classes. Then I start the nursing program Fall 2011.
Good luck to you!
