Hi All,
just wondering if anyone has applied to cac for fall 08? and have you heard anything baout your interview? im going crazy not knowing.....
I did work during block one but it was very very hard and I do work full time now and once again it is hard. The only advice I can give you with the kids is you need to make sure you have a kid-free zone to do your homework and studying, if that is school or a friends house, whatever, it is very important though...

Hi Joseph;
I have signed up for my psy 203 class online during the fall with the core courses..do you think that I will be in trouble with the work load? I wonder, why would CAC give the allowance of two co-req's into block one..if the work load was going to overwhelming with just the core courses??? Also, do you remember how many days you were on campus for block one? There seems to be some major differences between some students with the information they are currently getting.
One other small thing: Do you remember if they had stipulations on what kind of stethoscope you must have? I just bought a Littmann..and hope I don't have an issue with it.
Thanks Joseph..
Christine
Well I for one do not like online classes, too hard to fall behind and with the workload of block one it would be easy to fall behind. As for why do they allow you to take other classes while you are taking block one...who knows...As far as when we were on campus for block one...It has been almost two years so it may have changed...We were in class all day Mondays. 9am if there was no exam, 8am if there was an exam. We were in class till like 12-2pm on tuesdays for skills lab, and then after the 8 weeks of skills lab we were in clinical all day in addition to the skills lab. I am sure that may have changed a little bit but it gives you an idea. As far as a stethoscope there were no requirements. I have a very good stethoscope but I work and need a good one but it all depends on what area you want to work on. If you plan on working in ICU, ER, or anything cardiac you need to get yourself a good cardiac stethoscope and yes they are about $150-200. Littman is by far the best brand and I would recommend. You need to buy it online because it will be much less expensive then buying it in a scrubs store.

HI Christine,
I too have signed up for PSY203 online for the fall. If you would like to study together for this class just let me know, I will definitely need help. Do you have any idea how online classes work at CAC? What the work is like? tests? I have taken online classes at RIO and wasn't too enthused about essay questions.
Also, what can I expect with the CNA class? Is it difficult?
I know you didn't ask me but...
I took the CNA class at CAC on Saturday's. Had Mrs. K it was awsome! We had fun its not hard. Tests on chapters and vocab abbrvs. every Saturday. Practiced a bit in the skills lab. Clinicals were a long day but we got Nursing Home and Hospital experience so it was pretty good deal. Make sure you do your workbook because they do check it and it is part of your grade.
I also take online classes at Rio I know how you feel about the essays. But it saves me time. Is Psy 203 just Dev Psy? Rio has it marked as Dev Psy 240 I am signed up to take that end of the month. ( apply for '09 at CAC ) I will have 0 co-reqs when it is time for block 1
Thanks for the info.! PSY203 is developmental psych. I am also taking BIO202 this fall, not online though, don't know how it is set up compared with Rio. I will also need to take BIO205 with block 1 unless I can get squeezed into a section this fall, so far no go. As far as the CNA clinicals go. Do they teach us how to deal with situations such as "cleaning up" after a patient without losing my stomach? This will be the only hard thing about nursing for me, blood and other stuff doesn't bother me.
Tim:)

do you know why the scrubs are so expensive? is there more then one set? $220 seems a little pricey unless we get a lot, ya know?
christine~
i took psych 203 last year with bio202 and the cna class. i took it online. it was pretty easy. the only thing i did not like was the way the questions were worded when you took the online tests. other then that, super easy.
Hi Timmy. I love the online courses with CAC. I took my bio 201 and 202 online and enjoyed it. I just received my set up information for psy 203 today, so it is very easy to set up your account (CAC e-mail account) for your blackboard access (this is how you will take the course). For my bio classes, I had to go into the college 4 times for exams through the testing center..but I don't know what is required for the psy. Who is your prof? Mine is Machre.
Regarding the CNA course, I loved it through CAC. The teachers are very good, and they do give you alot of tips of how not to spill you lunch when having to take care of some messy jobs!:barf01: (example, vicks up your nose:) I loved the clinicals at the hospital..very good experience on the med/surg wing. The CNA course in NOT difficult!!
Hopes this helps...
Thanks for letting me know. Did you have to go to the testing center for exams, or are they open book at home? Also, I heard that there are four papers during the course?
I'm not going to get stressed over it..I will work hard to get all three done together.
Just picked up my books today..very cool.
