Hi All,
just wondering if anyone has applied to cac for fall 08? and have you heard anything baout your interview? im going crazy not knowing.....
Hey there. I'm at Chandler Heights and Cooper. I usually take Arizona down to the 10 and go from there. If you know of a faster/better way to the campus, please let me know. I realize that I'm at the mercy of the 10 not getting jammed up..so any and all alternatives are much appreciated. Yes, we should team up with driving, if it all works out. I think that I will go and get my books on Friday..I see on the website you can pre-order your books through the bookstore..so I think that I will do this now..just in case.
Talk to you later..Christine:twocents:
To all the incoming block one students...you all have a hard semester coming up. Block one is by far the most work intensive. There is reading, lectures, labs, learning procedures, clinicals, homework, online modules...it goes on and on. You are going to want to give up but just keep at it. Read as much of your required reading before the class for that day and take as many notes as you can and read the notes after class. Try to get your professor to nail down exactly what chapters you need to read because the syllabus will have a listing of tons of chapters, some you may not need to read.
Make friends with some people in the block ahead of you. They can be valuable resources for what to expect. If you do poorly on the first exam...rethink your study habits...these are NCLEX style questions which are very different from questions from any other class. Just stick with it but be prepared to work very very hard. Take it from a veteran, I am starting 4th block at CAC this month so I have seen it all there.
Feel free to ask me any questions, I will try to keep an eye on the board over the next week.

Holy Cow..thank you!! I hope you know that we will be for sure bombarding you with all kind of Q&A's. If you could give any advice to us "newbee's" entering block one..what would that be? We are all very excited for the upcoming orientation next Thursday..and also nervous of the outline for the next four blocks..I guess that is to be expected.
Thank you for being our "most valuable resource".. Talk with you soon.

Rhonda,
Not just in my opinion, in everyone's opinion pretty much block one is the worst. By the way anyone planning on taking any other classes with block one...DON'T... We did our block one clinicals at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center. For the extent of your knowledge and practice it suffices perfectly fine. Block two was at Maricopa Medical Center which was incredible and by far the best clinical experience. Block three was at Phoenix Children's, which was great, Arizona State Hospital, and Maricopa Medical Center for OB. This semester we will be at Banner Heart Hospital and Casa Grande again for ICU/TELE/ER.
joseph,
thank you so much for all the information. i think we have all heard that block 1 is the worst but havng someone who has been through it say it really gives you a reality check. i dont know about everyone else but i got so wrapped up in the excitment that i almost forgot about the amount of work that will be starting for us all in a week.
Any added words of wisdom or suggestions?
Nicole
Like I said, make friends with someone in Block two. They will be a very valuable resource, they just went through what you did and they know the professors. Do not get behind in your work and master your skills. Do your reading and pay attention and take notes. I think we, Block 4, are hosting a lunch for you guys, Block 1, on the second or third week back from school so I will see you all then but keep asking any questions you have and good luck with everything guys!!

I am only doing my ASN right now. I have SOC, Nut 204, Math 121 and the Psy that I'm taking this fall as well. I will finish the soc, nut 204 and math next summer. The bio 205 was hard, but I loved it.
Take care...
