Hello all you beautiful RN's or soon-to-be RN's.:loveya: I just wanted to begin a new thread for all CCAC students who are applying to the program for FALL 2010. It should be exciting, we will be applying in only a couple of weeks!!!
message me and good luck to ALL!!!
So just discovered this site and ashamed to admit I got way too giddy for my own good. I just scheduled for Nursing 101 day program at Allegheny and just wanted to see if there was anyone else who did the same. I'm all about making connections and study buddies ahead of time. Still freaking out about the admissions packet and the mile long list of things to do. So please let me know if anyone else out there is in the same boat as me. P.S I was reading this thread to get some much needed guidance and I must say dondk, you are my hero and thank you so much for all your great info.
:anpom:I also would like to congratulate everyone who got accepted into CCAC's nursing program. I got accepted to North and tried for Shadyside. I succeeded the pre-entrance exam for Shadyside. Got reference letters done before finals week, did my essay and got an acceptance letter this week Wednesday. So, I have made my decision to choose Shadyside so, all you CCAC nurses-best wishes. You can do anything you put your mind to!

Congratulations on getting accepted at Shadyside!
Congrats on acceptance to Shadyside. I'm taking the PSB at St Margaret on July 21 and hope to apply for spring admission to CCAC, St Margaret and Shadyside. I was told by the lady at Allegheny campus that though the apps are not out yet for CCAC's nursing program, the deadline to apply is going to be end of August. I took the PAX May 22, and I'm dying to know my scores!
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to go to Shadyside though!
Here's a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I missed the uniform fitting day but know that there's a store located in Bloomfield I can go to. Problem is does anyone know if CCAC requires a certain brand of scrubs and will they be able to size me at the store?
They use Landau (brand) navy blue
They can size you at the store and you can save on shipping by picking them up there.
Hi everyone, I was wondering what the requirements are to get into CCAC nursing program. I am from California and attended a four year state university over here. I am considered a junior and I have a 2.3. I want to transfer into CCAC, is my gpa too low? Would they consider my entire gpa or just the gpa of classes that would be transferable? Please help! THANKS!!!
I don't think it has changed, but you may want to double check.
As I recall, if you are coming in from outside the CCAC program your GPA from ALL post secondary schools will be counted. Ideally, you need a 3.0 to be competitive.
Now, if you are within the CCAC system, once you complete 12 credits at CCAC, that becomes controlling, regardless of your prior educational history.
Less than 12 CCAC credits? then CCAC combined with all post secondary educational GPA's.
clear as mud?
If you search on CCAC website, they may have the latest documents on the application, a few pages in they list how the scoring works.
I finally have all of my paperwork done! It took my titers forever to come back. I'm going to turn it all in tomorrow.
I am looking at stethoscopes and book prices now. I found a lot on Amazon for cheaper than the bookstore price (of course).
I'm just so nervous and cannot wait until we have our orientation.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks to all of you for your responses.
I have some of the books from the second semester left, but most from the 1st I've sold already. I'd say that Shadyside's the same deal book-wise as what people have said on this thread: don't worry about buying the newest editions, for the most part, especially for the nursing courses. I have the Pharm book and N102 for sure. . .I can check to see what else I have lying around.
Oh god, now I'm seeing drug calc seminars? That was the bane of my existence in Pharm.
