Hello all you beautiful RN's or soon-to-be RN's.:loveya: I just wanted to begin a new thread for all CCAC students who are applying to the program for FALL 2010. It should be exciting, we will be applying in only a couple of weeks!!!
message me and good luck to ALL!!!
Allegheny Campus Day Nursing Program, here I come!!! Thanks everyone for all the helpful posts. :redbeathe I took a summer EMT program through CCAC last year, which helped me feel like I had a head start for nursing. However, it's probably too late to do that with fall semester starting in August.. I think it was March-September.
kelly321~ we should deffinately get to know eachother more then! im so excited. you can private message me and then ill give you my email address, since they dont want us to put them on here. i would really like to get to know you, so that we can help one another once we start. im really excited, but i cant wait to be an rn. hopefully we close to one another and then we can get together once school starts and have study nights or something.. i currently go to south, this week of finals ends my last semester of classes so now all i need is nursing...how about you?
and do you know what our schedule will be like once we start? im waiting for the paperwork to come in the mail, i sure hope that it is soon!!!
once again congrats!!!
rebecca
Rebecca- I go to south too! Are you by chance in Micro right now Tuesday & Thursday nights?
I'm super excited too!! I'm taking A&P 2 this summer. That is all I have left after finals are done this week. I really hope our paperwork comes soon too. I am anxious.
Congrats again to you as well!
Kelly
I got into North campus day program! I am sooooo excited!!!
I have a lot of gen-eds out of the way because I have a previous Bachelor's degree from Pitt. I just got done taking AP1 this semester at Allegheny.....I got an A! I was going to take AP2 second semester summer, but decided against it because I don't want to take a 16 week class in 6 weeks.....I actually want to learn it....
Does anyone know when I should expect my Nursing packet in the mail. I only got my acceptance letter May 1st. I want to get started on all the things we need to do. How long do they give you to get all of the background checks/clearances/requirements done?
Another question: Is there and advantage in attending Allegheny over North campus and vice versa?
Has anyone else been accepted to North campus day program??
Wooooo!!!!
kelly321~OMG! as soon as you said Micro, i knew exactly who you were! lol how funny! it took me that long to put it together!!! But yes we should keep in touch so that we can have study nights or something...
what are the chances of us both getting into the same campus, same time, and we are in the same micro class!!!?!
Congrats, tmk219!! I really don't know when we are getting our packets. I hope it is soon. I hate waiting. I don't know the advantages of different campuses but from what I gather from reading here and around school is that the principles are all basically the same but the teaching methods, of course, vary from teacher to teacher.
Rebecca- Too many coincidences! We will for sure keep in touch! It is so nice going in to have a familiar face. I was so worried that I wouldn't know anybody. My friends are going into the day program or Allegheny campus. I am just so excited!!!
See you Thursday! I'm going to study for the not as exciting Micro final.
I GOT ACCEPTED TO SOUTH~EVENING! COULDNT BE MORE HAPPIER!IF ANYONE IS IN EVENING/WEEKEND PROGRAM PLEASE GIVE ME DETAILS. WHEN ARE THE CLASSES USUALLY? WHAT IS A TYPICAL SCHEDULE??
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO MADE IT IN!!! U EARNED IT FOR ALL THE HARD WORK!!!
:redbeathe

If I was guessing, you should see that nursing packet in a week or two. As a general rule, they want everything completed about 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester, so you should expect your orientation late July to first week of August for August 23 start.
I would "suggest" getting enrolled in BLS, as that tends to be the first thing that fills up. There were 400 seats for ALL fall students, so 400 others are going for it too. You don't want to be scrambling at the last minute.
Background clearances can take up to 3 weeks, you should be able to get them all done in june/july.
The vaccinations take some time, I would not drag my feet on those when you get your packets. I don't recall if anyone posted the medical form or not, but if they did, I would download it and start getting your vaccination records or planning on what you need. You cannot start clinical if they are not completed, which is on week one.
Are there differences between campuses? Not really, you will be taught all the same things, maybe not in the same order, but by December everyone will be at the same place. The differences tend to be clinical locations and where you live, which can be a long drive or a short one.
Good luck to everyone, keep your eye's open for that large envelope and make sure to attend any of the drug calc seminars they offer.

The earliest clinical is 7AM, depending on campus and instructor they may require you to be there a bit earlier (30 mins to 1 hour).
Transfer credit time limits apply only to the BIO's and the limit is 10 years, although depending on where the gen-ed were taken they may not 100% transfer over. Don't be too concerned with that though, just know you may have to negotiate a bit on those in the worst case scenario.
Classes now, 101 can be 3-5 days per week depending on class (am/pm) and campus. If you are coming in with advance standing, 102 can be 2-4 days per week, and 201/202 is 3-4 days per week at most places, 204/205 is five days a week.
The program will try to work with you, they have been known to bend for those in your situation for 101/102 and even 201/202.
