Hey Rebecca!
How nice of you to start a new thread.
I am going to apply to CCAC for the Fall as well, which campus are you trying to get into?
I was hoping they would have the applications ready by now but we have to wait until January 15th and then we will only have a month to complete it. Pretty short time, maybe they are trying to have less people applying?
i go to south, but my first choice would be CALU second would be SOUTH. How about you? What do you mean about the applications??? I went to the admissions office at south about a month ago and received a application. The only thing is the lady didnt have a envelope for me, so she said to come back when i was gonna apply and she would give me an envelope. she said they didnt have any but were planning on receiving them. also for the application process-i sent a letter to my high school and told them to send an official transcript to the nursing department and and unofficial copy to me about a week and half ago (i have not received it yet) was this right? or what did you do? the paper at the end of teh packet application that requests all the forms we need, do i just take that into SOUTH and they give them to me then? or how did you do it? i was trying to do it myself but realized maybe i could just go get all the papers i need at once....??? help me out on this please..
Did you know how CCAC is turning over to PAXRN instead of NET, i registered to take the PAXRN for JANUARY 23rd (crosss your fingers!!) im praying i do good on the test. i already took the NET but lost my results so i figured if i take the PAX at NORTH campus then i would have this time to study and get the results back just in time before the deadline of FEBRUARY 15th...
im excited...i just want to BE ACCEPTED, which i know everyone does!
well write me back and we'll talk more!!!
nice to hear from you and meet YOU!

Hey Rebecca,
I am starting school in January (need to take A&P I, II and psychology) and am going to Allegheny. My first choice for nursing school would be Allegheny and second North.
What kind of applications did you receive from South? I was talking about the application packet, which would be the "envelope" you are talking about. I think it will contain all the detailed information when to get a physical and the exact blood titers and whatever else that may be required.
Good that you sent the letter to your high school, make sure you follow up on it. I did that with my high school and two colleges I went to and it turned out that the transcripts were lost so I needed to request them to me, this time on my name and put them in CCAC in person.
I have read that CCAC is going away from NET, I took it in August and got pretty good results so I am sticking with it. Will cross my fingers for your test!
well, let me know what kind of application info you have, give me a link or post a copy :) and then we can see what to do with this :)
Have a great one!
I received the Nursing Admission Packet for FALL 2010. I dont know about you but i dont have to get anything done but turn in the 5 papers. When i get my acceptance letter (if i get in) then the acceptance letter will have a packet of information like to get a drug test not more than 30 days before you start the program itself, the titers, child-abuse clearances, fingerprints, and a background check. These are all things taht have to be done once youre accepted, so not until late April whne we receive our acceptance letters....
If you search clearance background check in the search bar it should be able to take you to spring 2010 CCAC and that is where i received all the information on where to get everything done.
I can send you a copy by email if you want. All the packet says is five papers that need to be turned into the nursing department:
1. Copies of official High School transcripts or GED certificate already submitted to College
2. Copies of official college transcripts and Application for Transfer Credit (If applicable) already submitted to College
3. Acceptance letter from CCAC or verification of acceptance
4. College placement test results
5. Unofficial CCAC transcript
6. GPA Requirement:
o 2.5 GPA minimum for a student who has earned 12 or more credits at CCAC
o 2.5 GPA for a student who has not earned 12 or more credits at CCAC but has earned 12 or more credits at other post secondary institutions. This GPA will be a composite score representing all institutions attended.
o 3.0 GPA minimum from the secondary school (high school) for a student with less than 12 credits at a 2 or 4 year post secondary institution(s).
7. Completion of College English, Mathematics, and Reading placement tests as needed.
8. Completion of all required developmental courses as indicated by placement examination with a minimum of a "C" grade.
9. Copy of NET Test results.
10. CIT elective (1 credit) completed with a minimum grade of ―C‖.
11. High school or College Chemistry with a minimum grade of ―C‖.
12. Eligibility to begin BIO 161
i just copied this from the packet...
if you need anything else jsut let me know! Hope this helped.
thanks,
I have read this part and there is another step to it:
STEP 8 - SUBMIT NURSING ADMISSION APPLICATION PACKET
Complete the application with signed behavioral standards statement. These applications are available in Campus Advising and Nursing Offices.
It is the student's responsibility to ensure the Nursing Admission Application Packet is received by the CCAC Nursing Application Center. It must be mailed or delivered by hand to:
Community College of Allegheny County – North Campus
CCAC Nursing Application Center
Room 2002
8701 Perry Hwy
Pittsburgh, PA 15237
Only students with completed nursing admission application packets and completed admission requirements will be considered for review. Any incomplete Nursing Admission Application Packets will be notified.
I swear CCAC is making it very difficult and confusing to get into the nursing school...
I have all the other steps done, just waiting for the admission application packet....
i hope I got it all right. AM really not willing to wait another semester to start.

I think they're just trying to keep the riff raff out. :lol_hitti
I was told by the south campus nursing office that apps wouldn't be available until after holiday break, and got a letter stating 1/16. Did anybody else get a letter from the Nursing Program? Mine was dated 12/18, regarding "changes" to the admission selection criteria. The only change I noticed was the transition from NET to PAX. BTW, I've heard the PAX is harder, so it would be wise to contact the company who conducted the NET test. Can't remember the name offhand, but if you search NET on allnurses, you're guaranteed to find it. If you call them, they can send you a copy of your results. Assuming you took the NET within the past two years, which is its expiration. Also, you take the admission packet to the records clerk in the registration office. She'll put everything together (as long as CCAC has it).
Good luck!
thank you so much futurernfarmer! i will have to get on that. about the other part though, i dont understand....
after i take teh packet to the admissions and have the clerk get all my papers, then what? just mail it to nursing department...i feel very lost now..please HELP.
i though all i had to do was send all the papers in..????
thanks again you both!!!
i mean about the application, teh application and teh admissions packet are two different things. huh? wow i cant believe i missed that part...
and about the application, what do we need to do for that do either of you know? please fill me in on everything if you can, from the application process to when we have to get clearances and all that. please take me step by step.....i really dont wanna get lost again!!!!
Rebecca, don't panic :)
just take care of what you can right now from the list that you pasted here and then make sure you go up to school on or after January 15th to get the application packet and there will be everything explained. So no worries. They can't make us do something we can't do.
Keep your head up and stay positive. I believe that if all of us keep talking about all the steps it will be least likely that we will skip any steps in this confusing application process.
Futurernfarmer, haven't gotten any letters from the nursing department but this may be because I am just starting classes this semester. The website states that the packets will be available on the 1/15, got same info at Allegheny in person. So hopefully they will stick to this date.

Hello everyone,
I too am trying to get into nursing this fall and yes...they ARE trying to cut the number of applicants down. A classmate found out at the beginning of December from someone who was looking to get into the LPN to RN program. The school's got a waitlist. That's where the majority of the problem lies. So many more people apply for the Fall than for the Spring so, they shortened the application deadline for the Fall. I've had all my classes at Allegheny-it's closer but, I will be taking one class at North this semester for a change. I might consider North and South campus as picks-I really don't know.
They sure know much how to make it difficult.
But we have to stay positive and keep doing our thing.
Good luck to all of us! (it seems like we may need lots of it)
