Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Anticipation. What a strong noun! I thought others were crazy when they posted comments about the wait killing them! Well, here I am...anticipating and going crazy over what-ifs. I still would love to hear from all of you! Where have you applied, what were your total scores and what is driving you crazy?

I wasn't expecting any acceptance letters due to the competition. Then I got accepted to University of Memphis Loewenberg School of Nursing, 18-month accelerated program with 94% NCLEX passing rate on the 1st attempt. Soooo thankful! :)

Specializes in CRNA.

I'm an Alternate in a LPN/Paramedic to RN bridge. Just waiting for a spot to come open, if not I will continue on with classes toward my BSN and reapply next year.

Got my second acceptance letter to BCHS Memphis!

I applied to a joint BSN program between a local community college and a local university called the RIBN program here in NC. I found out I got accepted two weeks ago! I can't wait to begin. The wait for the letter killed me!

Specializes in ICU.

For those of you at Ivy Tech, I am pretty much guaranteed an A in my psych class. My professor said I would have to work real hard this week to drop it to a B. I have 870/1000 points going into this weeks final. So I only need 30 points on this test to get an A. I am really excited because that will give me my 4th and final A needed for the RN program. The program should have our final grades early next week and start making some decisions.

I applied to El Centro in Dallas. The deadline was Feb 28th and we still won't find out until after May 15th. The wait is killing me!

Specializes in CVICU.

I got in to the first and only school I applied to. CSULA :] I was on the waitlist for about a month and didn't think i was going to get in! I have a 3.8ish overall but a 3.5 in my science classes. I had 23/30 pts.

I applied to San Diego State University. I got a 3.95 (pre-req GPA), 3.7 (cumulative GPA) and 88% (TEAS). I thought I wasn't going to get into nursing school for the Fall. My friends got 3.95 cumulative and pre-req GPA, which made me really discouraged. I wanted go through nursing school with my friends in the Fall. Everyone who were applying for Fall 2014 had high GPAs and scores, so I was really upset. Although I would have been fine with Spring, it would have costed me extra money. The wait was killing me, they kept saying the acceptance e-mail was going to be out late-March/early-April. April 19 came along and the e-mail wasn't sent out. Someone said it was April 21 instead. April 21st came around and it still didn't come out. April 23, the e-mail was out and I was in my 2 hr 40 min lecture and I was scared to open the e-mail. I was squirming in my chair for the rest of the class and once class was let out I went into a secluded place and opened my e-mail and I got accepted! The average scores for Fall applicants were 3.90 (pre-req GPA), 3.8 (cumulative GPA) and 88% (TEAS).

I had a low cumulative GPA because I took a 4-unit summer course when I was in HS, I was unable to take the final and failed the class. I had to stress through my first two years of college to get my GPA up to a semi-competitive GPA. I worked my butt off to get As in every pre-req (except in communications which I got a A- in).

What drove me crazy was the wait for the e-mail which could have been sent on any day in April. The anticipation drove everyone crazy. The other thing that made me go crazy that I had the possibility of not getting in to nursing school with my friends. But the wait is now over and now I can study for finals. :)

Good luck to all those who are going through pre-reqs and playing the dreaded waiting game!

I'm waiting for my final grades to post before I apply, we have until May 30th, I have my application filled out and ready. I'm only 8 points short of the maximum that I can receive, 7 for micro (which I'm taking over the summer) and 1 for my TEAS (I earned 7 points out of 8 possible). I have a 4.0 comulative GPA, counting all of my coursework, and I have all my pre-reqs finished, so here's hoping for the Fall class.

And if not, Micro will bump me up another 7 points to apply for the spring semester, 2015.

I recieved my acceptance letter in mid April. I had appied to various colleges, for BSN of which only one did not accept me. I did apply to one community college, which was closer and more convenient, less expensive and works around my schedule, im really excited im finally, reaching a goal, that i have been trying to accomplish for the past 30years. Yes!!!! 30 years; I was a single parent raising 3 kids of which i am very proud of today. My oldest is a P.A., my middle child is persuing an LPN should be completed in October 2014, and my son has a year of college, has not really decided on which route to go yet. Its my turn now, do my dream completed, although i have other educational skills under my belt.

Good for you! It's been 13 years for me. At least we know what we want and don't make the same mistakes we did when we were younger. I feel as though I am more focused and am able to give it my all at this stage of my life. Good luck and congratulations!

I applied at a community college, because it is the only place I can go that is closer than an hour away. I have taken all of my prerequisites for this place, and for the place I hope to transfer to sometime within a year or two, and a couple of extra courses as well. The minimum requirements for the program here 3.0 GPA, and 21 on the ACT. Generally the lowest scores to get in are above both of these. I have a 4.0 GPA and scored a 29 on the ACT.

My wait began in mid-February when I applied. I freaked out when several friends posted that they'd gotten accepted, and I still hadn't heard anything. It turned out my acceptance letter had gone to the wrong address. I was thrilled to finally have that wait over.

In order to go to nursing school I have to quit the job that I have held for 10 years (I am a special education assistant), and begin looking for something else that will better work with my upcoming class schedule. That is the next challenge. I have 1 month (basically) to find another job.
