RN dreams gone for now
Thanks all for your advise, you guys sound very careing. The school has a support module class, but they dont seem to give you questions to study. We did try to explain to the instructor of ways she can help us with understanding the questions, but for some reason when its time for a test most of the questions or senerials where not spoken about during lecture. We also have the test for success book i dont know its just not working out. Today was the last test before the final and everyone was overwhelmed, they feel as they did not do well, most of them studied all week. I know this may seem as i gave up, but i decided to withdraw and try it later on sometime. It was to overwhelming for me, maybe try to read the nursing books i have right now and apply later on at another school. I think i will practice some questions and give myself a head start for the next round.

RN dreams gone for now
I remember being so excited, while doing my prerequ for a Nursing program. I finally completed all of them with a GPA of 3.1 got accepted in a Nursing program and just dont know what happened to my dream of becoming a Nurse. I tried so hard gave it my all, sacrifised my evenings and mornings, working nights and going to school in the a.m. and it all fell apart. I just couldnt keep up,everything was just caving in on me. I only had 1 clinical skills to complete, i did the rotation at the hospital, wasnt to fond of my clinical instructor. Test and quizzes where insane, it was so difficult just trying to get a 75%. I dont know if it was the instructor or was it me. She did not really teach everything was based on power points and her recommendations as for studying for the test or Quiz, was always remember this, study that and focus on this and that what ever the topic was. I dont know if this was what everyone is suppose to get out of Nursing school, but i was so disappointed, i just woke up one day and said, "I can't anymore, i have tried every study technique, index cards, rewriting notes, rereading chapter and her test and quizzes were crazy. first test class average was 86, second test was 76% class average, and 3rd test was 72%class average along with quiz 4 72% average, everyones average was just dropping, mine was crazy, made me feel like a total dummy. I just need to know was this the professors teaching, or should i just give it another shot somewhere else. This has been the most craziest experience of my life. Halfs of the classes average has fallen below the 75% needed to get to Nur102, and all they have to say is the powerpoints are your notes, REALLY!!! what ever happened to breaking things down, giving various examples, we know we have to critical think on our own, but you have to give some sort of examples so we can learn how to critically think.

I finally start the journey!!
psych, is really fun, if you like mental health, you will be talking about the life span from birth to aging. you will also be talking about freud, erikson, and some other theorist in psychology. There will be alot of information to retain, you just have to stay focus and take good notes, you should be fine..good luck in your journey towards becoming a nurse.

what is the difference between Microbiology -vs Microbiolgy for health profession..
I just got my Micro-bio excepted from my previous school..so i don't have to worry any longer, about taking this class over. That is definatly good news..I just have to take straight nursing courses.. Thanks guys for differentiating, and explaining the concepts of those two courses for me.

Was nursing your first choice entering college?
Wow!!! I have a similar story to yours, just that my husband wasnt obligated to pay for my education, since i was the one with the most educational skill in the house, along with being the house wife, with the cooking , cleaning, and all the other stuff that go with it. I finally got accepted to a Nursing program this fall after 30 years of wanting to accomplish this dream. I do have to other degrees, but Nursing was always my ultimate dream..Im so happy its finally in the making...Thank God..

Fundamental module course
My school is currently offering a fundamental 1 module course alonge with a clinical calculation course, they are not part of the Nur curriculum, but the Nursing department is offering it for students entering for the Fall semester Nursing students. I chose to take the fundamental 1 module course, unfortunantly the calculation course was closed. Has anyone ever taken any of these courses while in the program? and where they helpful?. They have been created to help the student while taking fundamental 1 and calculations for their first semester.

Tips for succeeding?
If this is what you want to do, and its always been your dream, dont let that one class discorage you, you still have time to bring up that GPA, and make it to a nursing school, even if its not the school you are currently attending. Just take your prerequisits and next time just study a little harder, if you can. Sometimes you may have to reread a specific topic. I also took microbiology and it was very challenging, i received an A- which was very shocking to me since i was expecting a B+. I was constantly in the books, somethime rewriting notes, did some study group with 2 other students. Im not to fond of large study groups, so we all did very well. There is also some practice test, and exams online you can practice with those resources, most of them are similar questions to the exams you will be given in class. But never let anything or anyone discourage you from what you want to do, you just have to be more determined and you will make it through, take it from me, i know what you are talking about, and i made it into the nursing program for this coming fall. I have more challenges and obsticles to complete before i get to the final goal. So good luck in your future endevers

What to do pre-pre-Nursing School?
Yes, getting the book or even online for preparing for A&P1, will help. There is alot of information to remember, you are just 37, I was 47, i made it through all my pre-requisites averageing a 3.1 in total not bad for a 51 year old, in a nursing program. I had a family to raise, so this was my chance to complete the goal i wanted to 30 years ago. I do have 2 other degrees under my belt, but this is one that i always wanted to do, and your never to old, to become a nurse,so with that said you should be fine, just study, study, study and focus, stay determined.

Human Growth and Development
I also took this class online, and yes it talks about developmental stages from birth to death, it was ok, lots of reading also, papers, but you should be fine...Good Luck

79.4%..really?
Thanks alot for that advise, i will also have the ability to study at work, since i work the night shift. My children are grown, with their own career's, so in that aspect i dont have to worry about small children, just my gran's which will have less quality time with me. I have waited quite a while in life, to finally reach the goal of becoming a nurse, unlike most of you who may be younger than I, so i will have to dedicate every single moment of my life for the next to years in books, and making sure i am achieving the grade required or higher if i can. I understand this is a very challenging journey, but as long as i give it my all, im pretty sure i will be fine. I just got accepted into the nursing program starting this fall..I just hope and pray, that i can get this done, within the next two years, with no complications.

I recieved my acceptance letter in mid April. I had appied to various colleges, for BSN of which only one did not accept me. I did apply to one community college, which was closer and more convenient, less expensive and works around my schedule, im really excited im finally, reaching a goal, that i have been trying to accomplish for the past 30years. Yes!!!! 30 years; I was a single parent raising 3 kids of which i am very proud of today. My oldest is a P.A., my middle child is persuing an LPN should be completed in October 2014, and my son has a year of college, has not really decided on which route to go yet. Its my turn now, do my dream completed, although i have other educational skills under my belt.
