Hello. I have now taken the nclex twice with no success 😿 Completely freaked the first time and failed at 75 questions. Ran outta time at 158 questions the second time but anxiety was a bit better . I have done hurst which I personally thought was not helpful and a few friends of mine felt the same way. I did Uworld for the second time and thought it was very hard but didn't see anything like it on my test. Now I'm considering Kaplan. For anyone who's done it what are your thoughts ? I like how they do testing strategy which I haven't done yet. Not going to give up yet I already re scheduled !
Hi. I just took my exam a few days ago and passed. I studied with Kaplan. I took their self paced online course. What I can say is that Kaplan has the most NCLEX like questions. I think this is important because doing their practice questions basically trained me on how I should be tackling the questions in terms of the way I think. Basically they practice you to think critically. They help you dissect the question so that you know what is actually being asked because as you're probably already aware of, with the NCLEX questions sometime you don't know what it's really asking.
Their decision tree was tremendous help.
I finished in 85 questions but the whole time I felt like I knew nothing. I was not absolutely sure about the answers I chose in most of my questions. I left the test site almost in tears because I was definite that I had failed. But I applied what I had learned from Kaplan in terms of testmanship
But I passed.
What does this mean... well it means that their strategies worked. Their training works. Because even if I was unsure about my answers I was ultimately able to select the right one... you know what I mean?
get on those practice questions. I did them everyday, at the very least 75 questions during the days when I didn't have too much time.
I hope this helps somewhat helps. Best of luck on your next attempt. Don't give up!
Wow yes this helped a bunch! I did hurst when I graduated and felt it did nothing for me. Like you said nclex is critical thinking and that's what I need help with. I'm feeling good so far with Kaplan and I'm hoping everything they teach me helps. I start the live online course next week. Thanks so much and congrats !
You're the first I heard failed NCLEX by using UWORLD. How do you learn?(auditory, visual, etc) I used UWORLD and did not rely on the score I got every 75 questions in the practice exam. I read the rationales also for prioritization I used la charity, the 35page NCLEX review definitely helped and I have a 2 year old that constantly needs my attention. If you used UWORLD for 3 weeks it would be enough. The majority of my classmates used UWORLD for a week and passed on their first try. In my opinion you should re-evaluate your learning style and build from there try not to read into the question whatever qbank you use also do your research, plus there's a plethora of friends here in allnurses that is willing to help you. :0) Best of your success
Uworld was good and when I got to nclex I psyched myself out cuz it seemed way too easy. My anxiety got me both times and each time I've been pregnant and can't take my
meds for it. So I'm also having a rough time with keeping my self calm when taking it too. But kapLn does seem to be helping with the anxiety and how to take the test. Which is what I need. Third time is a charm !
