Hey need some tender loving advice. New @ this website. So here we go. I graduated from ADN school in 2004 and failed RN boards 4 times, so someone made and suggestion to try for my LPN boards, so I am trying to prepare myself to take lpn boards in 2 weeks. Do anyone know about the LPN 2012 nclex test and what I need to prepare myself for, please help. Thanks
Your posts here make me nervous, you can't just take any other board exam that u want to "try". You have to go to LPN school to take the LPN exam. Since you did go to RN school and can't pass the RN exam, I don't think
you would fare much better with the LPN exam.
I assume you did an ADN program? Where at? Have you checked the board of nursing's website for the passing percentages from the school you attended? They are required to post NCLEX Pass rates online. If they are real low you may not have been prepared adequately and should attend another school before retesting.
Guys !!!!read all your post,,everyone has different ideas, suggestions and so on!!! When I go on reading,my heart was extremely nervous ,bec I was graduated 15 years ago ,and I failed 2x after my failling I kept coming here to read all the post,so I can get a lot of helpful info and tips that may help for my 3rd time, I attend the refresher course alreAdy and I have all the materials that I got also here in allnurses. This website is so awesome and for michelle please don't give up and study, practice a lot of questions and lastly pray! For begosh:Thanks for your post very helpful info....ps: Michelle always come and visits here in AN as part of your study!!!!
Has it really been since 2004? You may need a refresher course. Did you try Kaplan when you were trying to pass the boards? At this point even if you get your license how will you explain that you have trying since 2004? this will not look good to any HR nurse recruiter. But certainly never give up. Before taking the LPN boards I would like to suggest to try Kaplan, to study for the RN,do the review and then do the RN computer simulation test. I believe if you do the lesson plan every day, study very hard, you will be amazed at how much you will have learned and how beneficial. I failed the first time and went to Kaplan and I was very happy with the results that was in 1997. So best wishes to you
Correction: after reflection you may need to return to nursing school. refresher courses are for those who are practioners and have been away for a few years.
Dear Michelle,
I will help you to study for your NCLEX-RN exam and you will be an RN. I have all the materials for you if you need it too, so if you don't have enough money for expensive courses - you really don't need any of them, you can do it on your own or in group study! You are more then welcome to contact me!
Best wishes to you and for criticizing Nurses... I just can't imagine you gain all this knowledge for what reason?
No your missing the point. The OP has NEVER practiced as a Nurse.....She had 2 years of schooling to take the NCLEX and another 8 years! of trying after that. The REAL world result is that the BOARDS don't hire; HR does and they will have a serious issue with someone who graduated and then was not able to pass the boards after 8 years. Its not an issue where the OP decided to go another direction aka: Physician Assistant, Respiratory Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, X-Ray Tech, Cath Tech, Sonogram Tech, Lab tech and now wants to resort back the original schooling choice.
I don't want to judge to harshly, since I don't know the facts behind the OP's story, but
I would of kept going to school for another degree. It is only like 5 more courses for me to be admitted to P.A school

You want a cookie?
Passing the boards only means you are "minimally" safe. Obviously she wasn't safe enough to be an RN and now she wants to degrade my license by sitting for that because she thinks its easier. You bet I'm going to criticize. I wouldn't want to work alongside a nurse like that.
itk3838 : Your on try #4 of your own correct? (Based on your previous posts)
First of all, OP is not returning to nursing, as she/he has never practiced as a nurse.Secondly, he/she is not a fresh graduate either.
Returning to nursing/being a fresh grad is a complete different thing than finishing school and not doing nursing for 8 years.[/quote}
Michele came here to ventilate her worries and discuss her options, if she finished Nursing School - she should be able to practice as RN. I should say schools are interested only in profit these days and don't care if students take tests for 3-6 time. Boards are making their money too. Not everyone is the same in their studies and helping to understand these differences , for people like Michele, are very important.
When you are in a hospital pt's don't request most experience nurse - that is just a reality, mostly I'm seeing Hospital Workers going to choose personal for their loved ones. If you have 10 years experience or none - responsibilities of RN's are the same. If you have one of these nurses on your floor - how do you treat them in your team - you are not good enough to practice or you try to help them to become as safe as possible? Teaching, not just patients, but your fellow mates should be one of your second nature abilities.

Nobody is degrading your license, you just proved that you unable to help people like Michelle.
Yes it is my 4th time, I'm foreign nurse and I don't care of comments like yours- I will be trying until I pass! And then when I will be working with people like you I will educate them - that you are being too judgmental and narrow minded, why even to be bothered to be a Nurse? Look around you who is taking hardest jobs in the medical field today, not everyone these days have BSN?
You don't care for my comments but you'll easily label me judgmental and narrow minded in every aspect of my life? You identify with the OP because you are in the same position. No surprise there.
I will make my position very plain. I don't think people should be allowed unlimited opportunities to pass the NCLEX. After the 3rd I fail I personally believe there should be some remediation involved. The NCLEX is relatively straightforward compared to nursing school.
This is my opinion and I am entitled to it. My feelings on the NCLEX do not affect my patients. Nurses are not obligated to be bleeding hearts on every single issue.

But you don't really learn much in school they train you at the hospital or whatever job you apply for so as log as you pass Nclex they will train you and work with you it's not like they will leave you abandoned with a bunch of patient lolol ps: I passed second try on june 21 2012 I graduated a semester early in December 16 2011
