Failed 2nd Exam in Anatomy , End of the World?

Published

As of right now I am a pre-nursing student working on getting into the RN program at my school. As you all may know getting into any nursing program now is competitive and this semester I started working on my pre-requisites. I started of Anatomy with a bang as I was the only person in my class to get an A on our first exam. We took our second exam last week and everything went to pieces. Two weeks leading up to the exam my insomnia got really bad and I was sleeping little to nothing the week of the exam I had gotten 6 hours of sleep in total for the entire week. To top it off I lost my lecture notes 2 days before the exam. I just got the exam results back and as the title of this post says I failed it. A big fat F failed it. I'm devastated, and extremely ashamed as my professor had praised me so highly. Do you think there is any way I can turn this grade around? Or should I just drop the course now and try again next semester? The problem with this is that it will set me back a year and not only that I will have to pay out of pocket for the course as I am not receiving financial aid next semester. There are 2 more exams after this and the final with some quizzes thrown in. If you were in my shoes what would you do? I don't want this to be the end but I just feel so lost and upset.

Go talk to your professor. This depends on their grading calculations and how heavily they weight tests. They are there to help you, so go to their next office hours and talk to them. I promise you are not the first student they have had in this situation, and letting them see that you are willing to put in the effort to fix this will go a long way.

What is your grade right now and what is the grade you need to pass? If you can manage to bump your grade up to at least a B, then you should stay. If not, you should withdraw.

Just do the math. Is it possible to still get at least a B in the class? If so, then stay in the class.
