i took my nclex yesterday and ended up in 76 questions, went home and got the cc page in PVT. everyone in this forum who got the cc page end up failing. i am so devastated but i have to move on, i admit that i did not focus well on studying thinking that nclex is same as the Phil board exam, plus i have 2 jobs, so i did only 100 questions a day. i am doing saunders 4th edition, the 5th ed cd, kaplan review book and PDA but still i failed. now for those who failed and passed, could you give me some advise? i am planning to stop on my other job just to study for this nclex, i will be taking it again within 45 days. i want to know if KAPLAN online course is worth the penny. hoping for your response. please lift me up... thanks
Please know that you are not alone and to try reduce test anxiety by sleeping well, knowing your testing site well, good nutrition, etc.!! Others have failed 8 times and passed! It is not a easy test but I found doing lots of questions helps and also writing down key info like vitals, key meds, key formulas. GOOD LUCK!
Not necessarily. It means the BoN didn't get the results yet. You tried to re register too soon. Does your state participate in quick results?
yes, and now i tried to register again, this time it led me all the way to payment. and my name is not on the list. so yes, i did failed the nclex...
A few tips in response to the NCLEX setback for all posters:Let's take a step back and put it together.
NCLEX is to prepare the entry level nurse to be able to be competent in four key areas in being a nurse: Safe, effective care; Health promotion and maintenance; Physiologic and Psychologic Integrity. You answer the best question in the four key areas depending on WHAT the question is ASKING YOU.
1. Dust yourself off, wait for your results; if you didn't pass, look at what was below passing.
2. Plan out a comprehensive study plan. DO NOT CRAM EVER. This was one of the factors my instructors STRESSED over when we went over our board paperwork...it is not prudent to study too little and study TOO MUCH either, don't ever take that risk!
The max time to study the boards (if needed) is two months MAX. Since studying for one week wasn't enough, make it at least two months.
3. TEST ANXIETY. Must center yourself against this! As someone with test anxiety, I have a plan when I take exams...even exams for employment, lol. I utilize breathing techniques, focus on what the question is ASKING, and choose the best answer, that's it.
I did not pay for a review course. I could not afford it, so I used the Kaplan book cover to cover, Saunders NCLEX flash cards, PharmPhlash cards, ExamCram, LaCharity, NCSBN and Lippinicott. I used books, flash cards, and iPhone apps. I studied each source no longer than a week, cover to cover; Studied test yes toons an rationales, and by the six week mark, I was preparing NCLEX style tests to prepare myself and my test anxiety.
My preparation worked. I passed the boards
.
Preparation is key...don't short change yourself. You passed nursing school. Invest the time in passing the boards.
Sending positive vibes on everyone's success!
thanks for the encouragement. i think i badly need to have a review on content, and some say HURST is more on content, i would probably use that company. i used kaplan, saunders, and PDA but still failed. i would wait for the results before i will start my review. i have 2 jobs right now and i can't stop working.

I suggest if you have a smartphone or device to use Lippincott apps for questions, as well as NCLEX questions on flash cards-Saunders; PharmPhlash for content and pharmacology...ties it together. I worked 30-40 hours/week, and studied for two months before I took the NCLEX, and passed. It is possible...you may have to cut back on one job, in order to move forward and into your career as a nurse.

i could study for 2 days, i already fixed my schedule, i will be working from 9am-9pm for 5 days, and study for 2 days, 1-2hours on my working days. and plan to exam 2 months from now. do you think this schedule is possible and i can go through this? i just can't stop working right now. or you could pm me your study plan so that i could have some guide perhaps?
I took Hurst review live and did the Kaplan book. Hands down the Kaplan book stunk "be prepared to know... ex. S/s of mag too but didn't say what those were. So to be helpful I would have had to go look that stuff up. Hurst had a huge book. We had 3 days of lecture an they broke down the important stuff to make it easy to understand. Plus there were 750 question in 6 online tests. I passed in 75 and have Hurst to thank. Remember safety is the key. Nursing school taught is to get vitals before u call Dr. Not so in nclex. You need to decide what action you can take that will fix the problem. Hurst explains that very clearly. Also generalize as Mich as you can because you can't memorize everything...

I think your going to need more study time. Like everyday, do at least 1-2hrs, then on your off days, as many hrs possible

i think i'm definitely getting the HURST, coz i badly need to go back to the content... thanks so much :)
I wanted to apply to both statements...and not do it separately...call it laziness, tired or both, lol...
Oh yeah ad when I took all of those test questions I tried to determine why they were wrong AND typed a brief statement for each ting I got wrong.... like if I chose a wrong answer for a isolation question I would type a sentence or 2 about the right answer.
^This is a good strategy; following up in the rationales is a good way to determine what the question is asking you, and determine which questions from the four categories that need more time to review.
thanks, that's what i'm planning do... 1-2 hours on my working days and 6-8hours in my days off. but can i do it within the span of two months?
I think so...it's up to you to believe it and achieve it.

It comes via USPS. How fast depends on your BoN but if your temp permit is no longer active you need to let your employer know ASAP as you can no longer legally work as a GN/GPN
