Hi all.
Just want to share my experince. I graduated in 2011 and have taken NCLEX for 11 times since then and still failed. I've tried Saunders, hogan, and also took Kaplan course but still failed. I feel like a failure. This is all I want to do is to become a nurse that's why I keep trying. I want to retake it again but then this time application process required school transcript and the school want me to take another Kaplan course. I'm devastated. I can't afford the money for another course and the exam. I don't know what to do. I got all the resources from books to cd from previous courses. I'm tired of lying to people that I work in the hospital and feel ashamed of myself of where I am today. Still struggling to pass the NCLEX.
I understand exactly what you are going through, I have been out of nursing school since 2013, and I have taken the exam 15 times and failed, but I was doing some research on refresher courses and I came by Bola Review, I had my first live online class this evening, and I have very high hopes with this program and that it will be my golden ticket. Don't get frustrated we can do this!
I came looking for help just as she did and these comments are amazing. I don't understand how this helps. Some people are just not good test takers or A students in nursing school. A lot of times text book knowledge and not even the exam will help you in the actual medical field but you still have to jump through hoops to get there. Why tell her to quit or that she wouldn't make a good nurse because she couldn't pass in 3 tries? She has her degree and some of us know better than others how screwed up nclex can be. Test prep doesn't work all the time because the structure is not the same from prep to prep or textbook to textbook. Do you have any helpful advice besides quitting because that's not an option for some?

No. Im now studying picmonic.com to help me recall information. Last May I took the nclex Rn exam, I had 79 questions and had 6 Near Passing. That's why I'm now looking at what works so that I don't keep repeating again and again. I'm studying picmonic because it helps me retain information for the exam .
@organizedchaos Such a rude, mean, and ****** response. The nclex RN is a very hard test. It's made to play with your mind. I know people that passed their NCLEX RN first time and are the WORST nurses around. I also know people that struggled to pass and are AMAZING nurses. So many new nurses are afraid of old nurses because of your response right here. ARROGANT. RUDE. This isn't a forum to tear people down. If you get so much enjoyment out of tearing down others, than nursing isn't the job for you.
OrganizedChaos said:There is just something so scary about someone having to take the NCLEX 5+ times. We have people's lives in our hands. Taking multiple years & tries to pass the NCLEX is mortifying. The old adage fall down X times get up X really doesn't apply here. If you can't grasp the material (very basic test to become a nurse) after 3 attempts, I believe you should have to go back to nursing school or find a profession that better suits you.
I wouldn't be a nurse if I couldn't pass the NCLEX by the third attempt. If I don't pass the NCLEX-RN in 3 attempts I will just stay an LVN.
This scares me for the future of nursing.
THIS LADY SHOULDNT BE A NURSE IF ALL SHE DOES IS TEAR PEOPLE DOWN. For real she's on so many forums telling all these people they shouldn't be nurses. Honestly, THAT is a scary nurse. One with no compassion. One that is RUDE and completely disregarding of others. Now that, my friends, is scary

The fact that you disagree with Organized Chaos (or that she has espoused an opinion that you find threatening) does not mean that "all she does is tear people down." Nor does it mean that she's scary, rude, lacking in compassion or disregarding of others. In fact, I suggest that you see to the plank in your own eye before worrying about the mote in OC's eye.
Many of us -- those who are actually experienced nurses -- find it frightening in the extreme that someone is allowed to continue taking the NCLEX (double digits worth of repeats) over and over again. I find it quite reasonable that someone who has failed three times may require remediation before trying it again. Indeed, someone who is so poor at test taking that they fail the basic licensing exam 11 times is probably someone who cannot think under pressure. And we all know that nursing requires us, sometimes, to think under pressure. That's what ACLS certification is all about. Thinking under pressure.
In the past, my state allowed someone to flunk twice before requiring them to take additional education before trying again. That's a eminently reasonable rule, and saying so shouldn't make an AN member a pariah.
Ruby Vee has apparently 40yrs of experience as a BSN, which means she’s way too old and never had to take the NCLEX! So don’t listen to people who became nurses by just going to a vocational school of some sort over 4 DECADES AGO!!
Do you! I know these elderly nurses feel entitled and thinks they are better but bet you 1000% that she can’t pass NCLEX if she had to take it.

We should encourage people to try to find out what's getting in their way of success. Doing the same thing over and over without succeeding is just loony. If I couldn't pass the NCLEX after 2-3 tries I think I'd step back a bit and figure out what to do next.
Maybe repeat a semester or two of school. Maybe get help with the NCLEX format if I thought that's what was tripping me up. But to just keep retaking the same test makes me shake my head. If nothing else, each failure just raises your test anxiety and makes the next failure more likely.
If you're not inclined to give it up, then think of a Plan B. Plan A is just not working for you.
