Hey hopeless test taker~

Hang in there, I am also a nurse graduate (Dec. 06) and have taken NCLEX 3 times, each unssuccessful. The first 2 times I had all 265 questions, and the most recent (March 18) I had 99 questions. Like you, I have taken Kaplan, bought so many review books, have notes, and just feel helpless and confused also. I actually had put testing off and in the back of my mind for now, until I read a very inspirational story on this website and now I have a new found confidence and even more determination to pass and succeed as an RN. I feel so embarassed all my nursing clinical friends have passed, and we all still hang out, and I am the odd ball with still not having passed.

After reading this great success story, I hope you read it also and re-affirm your confidence and ability that you will succeed and pass the NCLEX!

Don't give up! I almost did, but I'm not giving up anymore!

Sorry to hear this, I would have a think about Suzanne's plan, it is free only requres 1 book and many have passed using it alone

Did you do well on multiple choice exams in school? I just ask because it would be hard to get through RN school if you did not do well on the exams. I don't think it is a much knowing content as it is knowing the nursing process and finding the best answer based on the question. I would really focus on learning big concepts and possibly take another review course. Don't use too many books as it can get confusing with so much material to cover. I like Saunders, and went through the end of each chapter (questions) and the reviewed sections I did not do well in (

this is not a hopeless case...

trust me, i am from the may and june test takers support group.

i have been a member since 2006. this will be my fourth time taking the exam. i wasn't focused like i should have been the few times before, so i am a lot more grounded now. at this time i am taking suzann'es plan. with this plan, i have learned patience, because this program is at least 45 days long, depending on your knowledge. once you have the knowledge of the content, then the review really is 45 days long, and that time flies by fast.

take some time to yourself, schedule your exam, that is an important goal. then you start breaking up your day if you work, or not, you include your dedicated time for the nclex review in your daily schedule. that is important, because you will meet up a daily goal of reviewing, no matter if you work or not.

remember, you went to school for this. you ahve school loans, and if this is your passion, you will come out of this with a rn behind your name. i was discouraged for the past couple of years. it hurt a lot to see all my friends already working, and here i am with a 14 year healthcare background, and i am not passing.

take the time, to make the review a part of your life and a part of your daily routine schedule. read all the rationales in the book and in the cd. even if the rationales are correct. somewhere in there, i learned that reading the rationales helps you determine why you got the answer correct/incorrect.

i am paying school loans to this day, i even took the kaplan review. i know the content, but my problem is test taking strategies.

now i am ready, i will be testing in july, and i am going to take the challenge once again.

you already know what to expect. you know how the test will begin and end, so just get yourself prepared, "do not give up, whatever you do..."

follow suzanne's plan, it is free and very helpful. i have learned more from her plan than the kaplan review. kaplan was great, but it was helpful in the areas of what to look for and not to look for in the questions preparing and taking the board. like test taking strategies. it didn't help me much with the knowledge, because it is an intense schedule of classes, they don't have time to tutor the content to us.

once you identify, what you need to brush up on, you will feel a lot more confident than now.

when i first posted to this site, i sounded like a sorry case, and now, i am supporting others, as well as myself, by staying in tuned every day, and staying positive.

trust in the lord, or whatever your higher being is, and keep the faith that this path will take you to your journey for your new career.

good luck to you, and i truly wish you the best. ;)

YOU CAN DO IT!!! I my self am doing suzanne plan and it is ten times better than te 500 I spent on Kaplan. Although I have learned something from the kaplan course how to pick the best answer and how to spot the wrong answer... I am learning that without content , knowledge you might as well guess the answer.

Do Suzanne's and first and foremost take a break! you need to change how you look at questions. I wish you the best of luck in your studies and will include you in my prayers. All will come to fruitation. RN will be at the end of all our names.

Question? You said you took the LPN exam today for the first time after taking the RN exam 3 times? Can you challenge the LPN exam being an RN-school grad?

Thanks...

Hi hopeless,

What school did you go to and in what state? They should have resources. I'm a LPT and their were people who failed more times tha:bow:n you . However, they didn't give up. If you can pass the program then you can pass the Nclex. I have faith in you. Please email me. Hopefully, we can find away for you to pass.

So I am really having a hard time!! I took the NCLEX twice and failed using kaplan review for both :( The last NCLEX attempt I scored 68% on question trainer 7 and it says that if you score 65% or above you should take the test with confidence but I am so confused now!! I basically have done all of kaplan and i am not sure if i should get my money back or continue using it. But I really don't know what else to use to review. i have a job set up and they have been very nice so far with being supportive but i really want to pass this time and i am not sure my job will be there if i fail again!! please help me with your suggestions!! Does Suzanne's Plan really work or should i do something else. Please HELP ME!! It seriously has been a tough road!!

im so sorry that u scored high on the kaplan qtrainer but failed the nclex!! how did u do on the previous 2 times then? reviewing stuff is the best i think.

The first time i took the NCLEX I scored a 55% on qtrainer 7 but I had a friend that scored 58% on it and passed. So the first time i guess I can understand why i didn't pass but the second time I was so prepared and ready to take the test! I felt there was nothing else I could do. So i am actually trying to get my money back from kaplan because it is useless to use now. have you done Suzanne's plan?
