Hi All,

I need help. I have now failed nclex 3x and feel very confused. I have taken both Kaplan and Hurst reviews and feel good when doing the reviews then get to the test and freeze. I don't know what to do. It has now be 15 months since I graduated and I feel like I am forgetting more and more everyday. I was an NCA for 9 yrs and for some craxy reason I forgot to renew my license since I was working as a GN until my 2nd time failing nclex. So I have not worked in 8 months and am having a hard time getting a job. I don't know what to do. I need help as to finding a job and how to pass nclex. Any ideas? Please help!!!

You need to set a new appointment, then prepare. Approach the test as if you had never tested before. Leave no stone unturned. Do as many questions as possible and study the rationales. As long as you keep with it, you will pass.

I just took mine for the 4th time yesterday. All I can tell you is keep up and start fresh, don't think of the past "fails". Read you material again, read the strategies to pass the exam and do a lot of questions in the study mode (review the rationales). Don't give up.

Ximena2008 my thoughts and prayers are with you. How did you study? What did you use? I have had 265 question all 3 x's. I felt like a lot of my test was meds, priority, and isolation precautions this last time. I admit I don't know meds very well but I thought I was good with priority and isolation. I know that I need to study everything all over and keep doing questions I just don't know what program I should look into. Kaplan was expensive and didn't help me before do you have any suggestion?

i think you problem is not about your review but rather how to manage you test anxiety. take a deep breath while going through the questions, if you get pressured by the time or the test numbers, ignore it, rather focus on the individual choices and questions, eliminate what you know is incorrect, and lastly, reread you choice again, is it the best choice? if yes then select it.

remember that after this test, you can start your nursing career, don't let your failures hunt you, but rather take it as a challenge and do better next time. good luck!

I did Prentice Hall comprehensive cd by hogan, prioritization and delegation by la charity, and nclex rn success 2nd edition by davis. self reviewed for 2 months,

read religiously my normal values and common procedures 2 weeks before my test, finished at 75. lots of prayers.

Have you tried ATI? They give you practice tests and then tell you what you need to work on. I used it and passed NCLEX on the first try.

Have u tried the learning extension an online review given directly by ncsbn. I failed the nclex pn twice and decided to purchase the learning extensiin whuch has help tremedously! I am not able to ratiinalize how to answer the questiin and choose the correct answer which i see a big improvement. I have heard good reviews about the learning both online and people who have done the review which they have passes on their first try. The boards is more on test taking skills and see how safe a nurse you will be! Of course you must know your concepts as well! Search about the learning extensive online and you will see what people are saying about it. I hope to take my nclex pn this summer, hoping 3rds a charm! They both have pn and rn review. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

How did you do in schooL? Did you have test anxiety? How did your classmates do on the board? If you classmates all passed, I would go back to your college and ask advice, the NCLEX is changing in April. Either you did not learn nursing concepts at school ( if that is the case you should get a one on one tutor) or get help with test anxiety. Bottom line is you need to find the root of the problem.

Relax as hard as that is you have to relax. Keep reminding yourself you have 6 hours to complete the exam read each question slowly so you know what its asking and don't panic. Know your meds and giveyouself at least 2 hours a day after work or 4 hours if you dont and practice practice practice questions. You made it through school you can do this too!! :nurse:

you may try to talk to her, I hope she will help you out.

I know her well, she is wonderful. tell her "sami" said so !

try saunders...works for RN

Okay first , I want to say I have been in ur shoes. I have been out of school since dec 2003. I failed 4x's before i actually passed with 75 questions. Like you I used hurst and kaplan along with saunders.

Hurst for content and kaplan for nclex style questions. I thought I was studying in the past but I wasnt. I want to ask u first is did u finish the qbank? and how did u do? How many other nclex style questions did u do a day?

this is what i did for 3 months. I did at leaste 100-200 questions a day. EVERY DAY!... I did so many questions that I idid qbank 1 and 1/2 times. I also uses saunders and sometimes i used exam cram.

Now what i did different this last time is... is that i did questions every day faithfully, every now and then i take a day off, but i did my questions.

people think they are studying when they crack a book open and do 50 questions here and there, but they're not. BIG MISTAKE... SO DONT STOP STUDYING ...

Its hard at first but the more you do it the quicker it gets and the more you learn.

So that is my advice. Have any questions email me at [email protected]

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!! :nurse: .... you will soon pass this NCLEX and be a NURSE like me...
