I'm feeling overwhelmed and not knowing what to do next. I have studied a minimum of 3 months for the 6 attempts using all resources and preparation content I can think of. Kaplan, NCSBN, Hurst and the list goes on. I am not giving up as nursing is my passion and I will succeed. I just paid to retake them again but need some advise on anything else I can study to accomplish my life goal? Any suggestions? Please....
I have been reading all of the comment some negative, some positive others even encouraging I can't even begin to comprehend what you're going through . My advise to you is to not be discourage believe in yourself and never give up. I have
faith that if you take a refresher class and also find your weakness and work on it you will succeed. As for me
I am doing review for my board I am using Saunders and there is a test taking strategies book I borrowed at the library
very good . Try not to use more than two ressources so you don't feel overwhelmed.
Good luck God Bless
Wow. Marilena, it is so easy to say from someone who never once took the NCLEX. There are many reasons why one don't pass the NCLEX on their 1st or so try. Life often times get in the way. Everyone have their NCLEX story and we need to respect that. I pray that all goes smoothly with you when it is your turn. All the best in nursing school.I'm not an RN yet, just a student, but I have to say that I still find this a little concerning. I know this is not what you want to hear right now, but as far as I understand it (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the NCLEX is just the most basic requirement for the BON to feel comfortable licensing you as a nurse, right? So if you're failing this consistently, maybe it's time to look elsewhere?
Aussie, please don't give up. I understand it is very frustrating for you. Trust me not you alone is going through this draining time. Change your study materials and try studying differently. Maybe you need to take a class room NCLEX prep where you can connect with people again. Please don't give up if this is your passion. Remember Aussie, The race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong but to those that endures to the end. You're not alone.
It is surprising to me that you are allowed to attempt the exam that many times. In Canada, they have limited the number of attempts to 3 times, with the possibility of the College to annul the results, only in extenuating circumstances.
This varies considerably, depending on what State is issuing the license. Some States require a written plan of study be submitted prior to allowing a third or fourth attempt, others have a maximum number of attempts total, others have a time limit maximum of four years from graduation in order to still be eligible to test.
And yet there are still others that allow umpty-five hundred attempts at NCLEX; as long as the fees are paid each time, they will continue to issue ATTs! Nothing like that guaranteed revenue train....uggh.

Actually we would have a light bulb if Edison gave up as Thomas Edison did not invent it Joseph Swan did a full year prior. If he had given up, Edison might not have been successfully sued for patent infringement by Joseph Swan. Humphry Davis invented the first electric light source in 1800.

Sometimes you need to know when to walk away. You need an in person tutoring or refresher course. You've already spent $1200 in testing fees and likely several hundred more on self prep texts.
