failed nclex rn

Published

Hello everyone,

Today was a very sad day for me. I took the RN nclex on friday and found out today that I didn't pass. I prayed and prayed about it during the test that God would help me and pass me :( I just felt really down in the dumps today and I need some advice from you all as to what is the best test prep for the nclex, Kaplan, hurst review, etc?

I did do the saunders review and purchased the kaplan's book, but that only. Please feel free to give me any advice, thanks so much!

I wonder how much that costs? Is it done online? thanks!

It happens to some. You just have to brush yourself off and start preparing again. Don't give up and don't waste any more time thinking about the last effort. Time to get ready for the next attempt. Good luck.

For a 5 week session its $75 and it all online

Hey I am right there with you....I just found out the same thing today.....WE CAN DO THIS....I know that God has a plan for us and it is hard right now but everything is perfect in His timing not ours....This is what I have been saying to myself all day, I am still really sad :(

Your not alone!!! I took NCLEX last Wednesday, 265 quaestions, found out Friday that I FAILED. At that moment, I wanted to give up, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in myself. I thought I had studied hard enough, but I guess I didn't. I have test anxiety and the moment I set down to take the exam, I felt lost for CONTENT. I am going to re-strategize my study plan and get all new study material. I too think Saunder's is a good book. This first time around I use the Saunder's Q&A cards ((really liked them)), the Kaplan Strategies and Review book, and Lippincott. I am going to purchase Saunder's and La Charity and repurchase Kaplan review book for my second time around. I haven't heard to the Exam Cram, but will be looking into it. I'm told you have to wait 45-90 days, so I think that's more then enough time to prepare. Today will be my first day back to work since I found out I FAILED. I am going to take this week off to clear my head, before I get my head back in the game and go hard on studying. Good Luck, claim it and you'll acheive it. SECOND TIME AROUND WILL BE OUR CHARM, WE'RE GOING TO PASS!!!!!

Hi...I too took the NCLEX-PN this morning and I was so confident when I got to the testing center. I knew my stuff and I didn't have anxiety at all except my stomach was pretty much going in circles. I just want to say, do not give up. The hard part is all done. We finished nursing school and now we are faced with one more TEST. I really wouldn't have done it without my husbands advise and thinking positive for me. That's what we all need is support. I will also re-test in a few months. I used the Saunders, ncsbn learningext, and exam cram. I guess it wasn't good enough. I got alot of SATA questions and only one math problem. Hopefully we pass the second time around. Keep us posted and GOOD LUCK:nurse:

I received the e-mail you sent me however, I can't e-mail you back so I am replying to you via this post :) Here is what I would say about your following questions:

1) When trying to decide who to send home after a disaster has happened think about the following...all the patients are going to be unstable however, it is your job to figure out who is the MOST unstable, who is chronic vs acute etc. In order to do this go through the decision tree so you can narrow it down to only two options, then you should have a better idea on what the answer is. For example if you are left with a patient that has been in the hospital receiving antibiotics for a couple days vs. a patient who has only been there for 4 hours and has a head injury, you would discharge the person on antibiotics. (not the best example, but hopefully you get the point)

2) As far as ABCs go, airway will ONLY be the answer if it is something that needs immediate attention and is not chronic like COPD. If a person has had COPD for years, their O2 Sat is only going to stay around 85% that is normal for them. Something like internal bleeding could trump this if there are no other better options after using elimination via the decision tree.

3) I did not have a lot of OB complications on my third attempt but I did on my first one. If you got a lot you might want to refresh yourself on the topic. However, I did get a lot of hypo hyperthyroid, and diabetes questions; this seemed to be common on all three of my attempts :/

Hope this answers your questions ok!! Let me know if I can be of any further assistance! Don't get discouraged, this was only your first attempt! Now you know what to expect and you can go into the exam a second time and pass it!! GOOD LUCK! You can do this!
