Hey everyone,
I'm somewhat numb about the fact that I did not pass. Went all the way to 265. I just wish it would've turned off sooner instead of wasting my time and giving me a big headache. I'm trying to find out Suzanne's plan w/o causing conflict. And just needing help on finding a book that emphasizes infection control. I'm just at a lost of words. I really thought I was prepared, and I don't have the means to do a review course to be honest....
Hey hopeful 101,
Dont be dishearted. This is someone who also did failed 2 times and as like you i have put my everything into study .I am international Nurse and i Know very well that i dont have language problem as it happens with international Nurse but still somwhere i lack to pass.I was the toppest in class when we graduate and It sucks me when i fail in subject where i used to be the person people some and ask for.
I can understand how frustrating it is but Whenever i feel the pain ,i try to console myself saying that big things are waiting thats why i am not able to achieve it this time.I know it looks as i am fooling myself but it works and i would be relax which gives me zest to study harder the next minute.Believe in yourself there is so many like u who is sailing the same ship and if u continue down road u will reach the land.
So would any of you suggest Kaplan Review Course. I have never taken it and now I don't know what to do! Again, I have failed 3 times and I really want this 4th attempt to be IT!!! I don't have the money for Kaplan but if it is strongly suggested than I will make a way some how! What do you think? Please reply....AVSRN
So would you suggest doing Kaplan Review? Did it help you at all? I don't have the money for this course but if it helps a little... Maybe I can pass on the 4th attempt. I'm Near Standard of Passing in all areas. I am desperate!!!!
AVSRN, I can understand your frustration about the boards... I know I am right there with ya. My first time I used kaplan and even had a review at my school, did the online course read the book, did the questions and thought I was good to go..WRONG!!! I got 124 questions and failed.. Then 2nd time I used Kaplan again... Review Saunders meds, Did NCLEX 4000, MOSBY's, NCSBN for 8 weeks and well I got closer got 230 and ran out of time... failed again.. Well I once had a person tell me while I was in shcool to use EXAM CRAM and thats all I would need to pass boards.. and I started to review that for my second time and put it down and thought wow, I know my content so if I can just do 3,000-5,000 questions and read the rationales I should be good..Well don't believe just doing questons as they say 3,000-5,000 and you'll pass boards.. that bolonga... So now I have exam cram and doing the content book and the question book and I have had several of my friends pass with using that.. so if i were you.. just my advise I would get an EXAM CRAM book and do/read that and do the CD quetions...So now i am taking my time... making sure i understand it all before I even think about scheduling my test. sure dont want to have to go back to school cause i failed for the 3rd time because I was in a hurry...
Dear AVSRN, I purchased Kaplan Online Review for my first try around & failed. Being I still has access to Kaplan I used it again for try # 2 being that I was unable to complete the entire program... again no success. I also used Saunders along w/ the Kaplan... I didn't find it helpful, but some of my friends found them helpful... For try # 3 I'm using Exam Cram & LaCharity which both seem to be exactly what I was looking for. I guess it depends on your study habits & way of learning. I do know Kaplan has a free sample to try out online I think it give you like 20 questions so if you were really interested I would suggest doing that first to see if it will meet your learning needs. GOOD LUCK!
Hey,i am international nurse too, failed twice, one was recently and i just want to know how did u study,it way and books u pick up for.thanks
Look to see is EXAM CRAM has anything for international nurses if not Hurst reveiw has a RN book to study and it explains information for international students Hope this helps

Dear Angelsinthesky and PSK09,
I highly advist the ExamCram. I partly believe in the whole 'just do questions and you'll be fine' but the other part is to know your content. If you don't know your content, than doing questions is a waste. But the ExamCram, the blue one, I used greatly helped me and taught me more about Addison's, Cushing's, and other things. And mingled w/ the LaCharity book it helps to really read what the question is looking for, especially with assignment, and priority assessments. But of course, in the end, God is the all knowing and He will do His part, as we do ours...best of luck to you both and do please keep me updated!! :-)
