  1. I actually used both to prepare for NCLEX. It really depends on what your problem areas are. If you are having a problem with content then I would recommend HURST since its a good review of content. IF you need help with test taking and the format on how NCLEX asks questions then I would say you need Kaplan. Honestly, I would recommend Kaplan only because the questions are similar to the questions that are asked on boards. Kaplan has Question Trainers and QBank questions. The Qbank is very similar to NCLEX questions. The questions that come with Hurst review are relatively easy (think Saunders questions). YOu areally aren't going to see alot nor do you want to see alot of them on your boards. Hope this helps!!!
  2. Hurst Review is a class/online series which is a review of of gerneral content that you should have learned in nursing school. Just google Hurstreview and you should get all the information you need. The Kaplan decision tree is a way of answering questions that has been formulated by Kaplan. It incorporated Maslow, assessment vs implementation...stuff like tht. I think Saunders has a test taking section in the begining of the book and that is abt the same as the decision tree.
  3. We didn't have to send out anything at my school. We graduated on December 19th and we received our ATT before the New Year. As far as NCLEX prep, we had NCLEX 3500/NCLEX 4000 on our laptops(the school offers its students laptops) and we also had the take the HESI exit exam and score 900. I just took my boards on the 26th and I passed!!!
  4. Drumroll please ...I PASSED MY TEST!!! Just paid the best 7.95 of my life!!! That trick works!!!! It works....it works....it works!!!! Oh yea, to all the ppl that are on here sayin that the trick doesn't work or that the trick is stupid....you ever notice how they can't go into detail as to why the trick didn't work for them?!?! They always have something weird to say like "my friend thinks it's stupid" or "it just sound weird". My point is if they can't go into detail...don't entertain it!!!
  5. Old Opie Occasional Tries Trig And Feels Very Gloomy Vague and Hypoactive
  6. I know you are discouraged right now but some of the best nurses are those that had to struggle at some time with the curriculum. You will make it...just have faith. I am currious...what is Sussane (sp) plan that everyone keeps talking about?
  7. I hope you all all right and I happy that trick ha worked for so many of you all!! I took the exam yesterday and I saw that infamous blue screen at 75 questions. I got exactly what I prayed for . I came home and ever since then I have been trying the "pearsonvue trick" I keep getting the good pop up and I just hope it's true.
  8. I just took my HESI and I made a 1082 and I am so glad that it is over with. I can tell you that it is not the end of the world if you do not pass (the first time I made a 791 and you have to make a 900 at my school). What I did to prepare for this exam was I read the HESI book, I did the Reach test CD in the back of the book and made in the 60's only to find out that everyone scores poorly on those questions. (Those are some hard questions) I also answered HESI style questions through evolve. I think you can purchase them but this was offered through my school. They have questions on all the topics: Community, Pharmacology, Med Surg, Psych, Pedi, OB, and I think they may have had Management too. I also did the Evolve case studies. Now I will say this...those case studies had ALOT of information in them that I have seen on past exams so I found them to be helpful. Anyways....I feel like I have been typing for too long lol so if you need help just let me know. This test is duable.... If I passed ANYONE and I do mean ANYONE can do it.
  9. It's an exit exam that you take before you graduate. It's suppose to be a review of everything that you have learned throughout nursing school. If you don't pass it, then you are not able to graduate and take boards (NCLEX)
  10. I totally agree with what you said. I also think that you also need to make sure the teacher knows who you are. You always tend to get "brownie points" if the teacher knows who you are and they how bad you want it.
  11. You should be able to use your student loans for pre reqs and nsg school. You should also try to see if you are eligible for any scholarships too. Just don't try to be like so many ppl I see that "live" off their loans and get into even more debt.
  12. Okay this may be a crazy question but I'm going to ask anyway...the studyguide for HESI that you are referring to is for the HESI entrance exam or for the HESI exit exam?
  13. Since you are just starting nursing school I would deffinately not go out and buy the most expensive steth out there however whatever yo do decide to get deffinately consider getting it engraved
  14. It's possible. As long as you are able to get time off before tests I think you should be fine
  15. It's all about priorities. If working out is important to you then you deffinately need to make time for it. Plus, while you are working out it will deffinately help you clear your mind and that will help out with school too.
