Failed NCLEX-RN for 2nd time!!! So Sad!

Published

Hey everyone,

I'm somewhat numb about the fact that I did not pass. Went all the way to 265. I just wish it would've turned off sooner instead of wasting my time and giving me a big headache. I'm trying to find out Suzanne's plan w/o causing conflict. And just needing help on finding a book that emphasizes infection control. I'm just at a lost of words. I really thought I was prepared, and I don't have the means to do a review course to be honest....:scrying::cry::crying2::no::banghead:

Alot of people know how you feel. I just took my third NCLEX two days ago. I find out my results in 6 hours and I honestly feel I didn't pass again. I have also taken all the questions. But one thing I am not doing is giving up. I plan on taking that test every 45 days. This is what I went to school for and this is what I am going to do with my life. Some of us just suck at tests and that test is soooo random...who knows what your going to be asked. Hang in there. You can do it and don't stop. I know its hard and you feel about an inch tall, but you will make it..I promise you!

hey I already have forgot the NCLEX..I am foreign nurse and I passed on second try! I am looking at this site just to see you how you guys struggle!

Here it is: Saunders, you gonna memorize almost every single page!!!! All infection control you need is there, you dont have to be an epidemiology specialist! Then LaCharity plus Kaplan practice question and you should be fine. But you wont answer questions unless you dont know solid nursing material that is in Saunders. Good luck!!! You will make it!

Thank you everyone! It has been a while or me and I am now starting to study again...I have set my test date for Nov. I do not wish to wait any longer due to certain circumstances. I have recently bought ExamCram and will continue on w/ the LaCharity book as well. From my experience in working, I see how little the NCLEX relates to actual RN duties, but it is a silly hurdle that is needed to pass in order to get to being an RN. I will keep y'all updated on how it goes, to be continued....

Hello; I think you give excellent advice but I do have to tell you I looked a few chapters in Saunders but by no means did I memorize it and I didnt read it from cover to cover either and I passed mostly by using exam cram; I guess everyone has to find their own formula/program to pass.

This test is absolutely UNREAL!!! I failed again for the 3rd time! The first time I had 180 questions, 2nd time 253 questions, and the 3rd time 75 questions!!! I don't know what to do or think! I mainly used Saunders on the first two attempt than on the 3rd attempt I decided to change to Mosby and I did WORSE!!! My plan is to take a Kaplan Review Course and stick with Saunders......is there any suggestions????I am desperate to pass this exam!!! I pray that God will eventually bless me to pass! I am so tired of studying!!!

practice, practice questions and read the rationale.

"I get knocked down, But I get up again, You're never going to keep me down"-- Chumbawamba "I Get Knocked Down".... don't let the exam kill you, keep getting up & you'll pass it!.... i'm in the same boat as you guys (failed twice, studying for round 3, praying I pass because like you guys, studying is driving me nuts I want it to be done with it & continue on as an RN).. like you guys said this is one crazy hurdle, but we made it through nursing education programs we can do this!... GOOD LUCK ALL!

I PASSED!!! Sorry for not posting sooner to help with studying tips! But I will make this short and sweet. I got the ExamCram practice question book and read through it for a week. I did not do the cd much cause the book has the rationales and was easier to check myself after each question. Than, I did the LaCharity book the next week. I basically studied two weeks and took the test a 3rd time. I scheduled it for 12pm. Left early, studied few more infection control precautions, diseases, and went in. Test stopped at 75 q's and I knew I got the last Q right because of LaCharity. Those two books got my mind into a way of thinking like the NCLEX.

I did'nt have the money for kaplan or a review course of some type. I just had a mission to complete, and mission accomplished. If you have any questions, please don't bother ot ask me! I'm happy to help!!!

AVSRN, I can understand your frustration about the boards... I know I am right there with ya. My first time I used kaplan and even had a review at my school, did the online course read the book, did the questions and thought I was good to go..WRONG!!! I got 124 questions and failed.. Then 2nd time I used Kaplan again... Review Saunders meds, Did NCLEX 4000, MOSBY's, NCSBN for 8 weeks and well I got closer got 230 and ran out of time... failed again.. Well I once had a person tell me while I was in shcool to use EXAM CRAM and thats all I would need to pass boards.. and I started to review that for my second time and put it down and thought wow, I know my content so if I can just do 3,000-5,000 questions and read the rationales I should be good..Well don't believe just doing questons as they say 3,000-5,000 and you'll pass boards.. that bolonga... So now I have exam cram and doing the content book and the question book and I have had several of my friends pass with using that.. so if i were you.. just my advise I would get an EXAM CRAM book and do/read that and do the CD quetions...So now i am taking my time... making sure i understand it all before I even think about scheduling my test. sure dont want to have to go back to school cause i failed for the 3rd time because I was in a hurry...

Yea I agree with Angelsinthesky. I used Kaplan the first 2 times around & failed the first time after 107 & the second time after 264 questions/timed out after the 6 full hrs. I feel really hopeful with Exam Cram & feel that this study material is exactly what I was looking for/needed the first two times. So I'm praying with this Exam Cram try number 3 will be it. I'm also using the LaCharity book, very helpful on priority questions. GOOD LUCK!

I hope that using Exam Cram this third time will work for me too.... I just so ready to become a RN and go to work.... I am ready to be done with all this studying... but I know soon enough God will praise me for all the hard work/studying I have been doing and I"ll become an RN..But this time I am taking boards when I am ready and not when everyone else is ready for me... Good luck to you and I am sure you'll pass!! Just keep the faith and pray and the lord helps those who help them selves... :yeah:

thanks Angelsinthesky I feel exactly the same way... Good Luck with your studying & please let me know how things turn out after you take it (I'll be sure to do the same thing). I'm sure with all this studying & praying God shall our prayers & we will pass this time around :).
